Stop with the obsessive thin posts!

Not again. Seriously the number on the scale does not define you or anyone.

Haven't you ever seen those Buzzfeed or similar posts and YouTube videos where they line up 6 women in their bra and panties, all the same height and weight, to show how different they look?

Google!

My wife and I are the same height and weight (within 5 pounds of each other at any given time), yet she looks 'bigger' than me because she's more athletic and is required to be of a certain fitness level for her job. I have a long torso and short legs while she has a normal torso and long legs. Even tough we both wear the same size pants and shirts, we can rarely share because her pants are too long for me and my shirts are often too long for her.

I'm 5'7 with a medium frame. At 140, people tell me I'm thin. At 135, I feel fantastic. At 130, people call me skinny.

Skinny is a matter of perspective. Speak to your doctor about what constitutes a healthy weight range for you. Go 5 pounds under the lowest and then you'll be skinny. You might not menstruate, but you'll be skinny at least.

Not menstruating is a feature, not a bug.

It's so subjective and this can be a really dangerous path to go down.

I'm 5'4'' 126 lbs. I'd like drop 5 lbs., but I wear a size 2 and know objectively that I'm fairly skinny. I have some level of body image issues that were a lot worse in college. At that time, I was 5'3'' 110 lbs. and thought I was fat. I look at pictures of myself from then and realize how rail-thin I was. I easily wore a size 0 and sometimes that was loose on me. I was really unhealthy.

Anyway, my point is that what's skinny and what's not is subjective and fixating on it can lead to body dysmorphia, where you don't have a clear perception of what your own body even looks like.

I had an eating disorder in high school and college. Recovered. I am so happy to be on other side. I am fit and healthy but not skinny. I can't image having spent my late 20s, 30s, and now 40s still preoccupied with this crap. How sad.

And I'm the same height as you, weigh 100 lb more and as long as my dr says my heart and labs are healthy, I'm not worried about it. Aesthetics are just that - there's not one universal that says ONLY skinny can be beautiful.

Yeah, our bodies can do weird things. My husband could stand to lose 20-30 lbs (he's working on it) but his cholesterol and everything else, labwork-wise, has been great. My dad is 5'8'' 160 lbs., and eats ridiculously healthy, and just went through quintuple bypass surgery for massive amounts of blockages. Doctor said it was totally just a genetic condition where he amassed crap in his heart.
