| I really like Mia but dh wants to go with Miriam. Let's say our daughter prefers the nickname Mia. Is Mia a professional name or a nickname? |
| I've known a few kids named Mia, it was their full name |
| Very much a name in Scandinavia. |
| Totally fine as either. |
| Me and Mia |
OP here. That's funny. I read on another forum Mia is short for Marie in Scandinavian countries. |
| It was the 7th most popular name in the us last year so I’m pretty sure most people consider it a full name. |
| It’s a full name but I love the idea of using it as a nickname for Miriam or Marie. |
| Miriam is a super ugly name. Just name the kid Mia. |
| It's a full time but I've also seen people using it as a nickname for Amelia or Emilia. |
|
"Mia" is a common term for bulimia ("Ana" is anorexia).
There are a lot of "pro-ana" and "pro-mia" sites. It's a "thing." I wouldn't name my child this. |
| Mia Farrow’s real name is Maria. As a nickname or a full name, it’s pretty. |
+1. Why would you saddle a little girl with a weird, old-lady name like Miriam? |
Oh syop |
| Stop |
