| If so where are you leaving from? |
| Never heard of that club |
| Wrong thread this must be some fly by night rec club |
| Olympiacosdc.com |
| I'm going start a academy based off a pro team in Australia or anywhere in the world. This club seems like a joke if the pro team is so good why aren't they in the UEFA CHAMPIONS league |
| Juventus its also opening up a program in Maryland people all of these foreign clubs are not really involves, these are affiliate programs that can use their branding and marketing material that's it |
| Yes we know how amazing Greek soccer training methods are |
| Isn't the MLS better than some Greek league? |
No, they can't even beat teams from Mexican league and win CONCACAF champions league. |
| MLS ... where drunk, washed up European stars come to shine. Seriously, I am actually a huge Wayne Rooney fan, but the fact that he is by far the best player on DCU demonstrates how inferior MLS is to the top leagues. That said, the play is improving and the crowds are growing. Someday ... it just might displace the most boring pro spectator sport ever ... baseball. |

I did some digging on the Juventus team at the sportsplex. It's just a branding thing, the lead guy use to coach at potomac I think. The only one I have found that is legit is Barca, say what you want, but the coaches are sent from Barca HQ or minimally certified by the TD, who is from Barca HQ. All the other ones are just partnership brands.
"Hey TD, come visit our club for $$$$. If you pay us XYZ, you can use our brand" Villareal, Juventus, etc. |
I’m sure this is the same for FC Bordeaux USA. |
Oh, I’m sure you did, Mr/Mrs Barca. Gotta protect the shield on this board. |
| Signs are up all over northern va for this club. Must be a new club couldn't find them in any league last year. |
I have no connection to Barca but the poster seems correct. The Barca Academy at Evergreen is a legitimate extension of the Spanish club. Villareal, Juventus, Olympiacos, Sporting Lisbon and Bordeaux seem to be licensing deal with name only. There is a major difference between the two different structures. Barca also has a boys DA in Arizona that is legitimately connected to Escola. This isn't just some marketing fluff. Problem for Barca at Evergreen is that they take anyone willing to pay so that takes away what Barca should stand for. They have seen the money machine of youth soccer parents in this country and they want a piece. |
