| yes our kids are all leaving our current teams for this program |
| on their website they are boasting about gotsoccer points! lol. |
I'm by no means Mr. Barca and none of my kids are with the club. If you don't like the truth, then there is no hope for you. It's the truth and whether you like the program or not, it really is a Barca curriculum. Not just a bunch of kids and coaches wearing euro swag. Coaches were sent here from the mothership and my neighbor even housed one for a few weeks when they first started. In the end, i'm a business minded person so these models intrigue me, the Juve program in MD has zero alignment in training, just name. |

This is exactly what is wrong with soccer in the US:
https://youtu.be/UbFittxDNlA Olimpiakos vs barcelona academy... all american kids who probably know diddly squat about the clubs lol. This is like the LA Lakers setting up shop in some other country and having LA Lakers Morocco Academy. Come on now people. |
100% correct it is the true Barca curriculum. Hopefully, for the youth soccer market's sake, they actually become a little more selective at the older ages and they become a model for other clubs to follow. Right now they're focused on quantity not quality. That's ok at U7 and U8 but at some point you are just running a day care no matter what the curriculum is. |
| the american kids wearing the barcelona jersey must feel like it represents their catalan heritage and the passion that goes with it... lol |
They also seem to have a local partnership with Cougars Youth Club in Falls Church and currently play in ODSL. My son's team played against them in a tournament and they were competitive. I believe I saw on their website that they will be playing in EDP next year. |
We moved to Barca last year, training is top notch, talent pool is a bit weak. But I crack up at all the dads (obviously have never played or been a fan) all the sudden stock up on Barca gear, you know they screwed up the order too because unlike the big sizes we are accustomed to in Football (NFL), soccer jerseys are very unforgiving for those that aren't trim. Yes, i'm evil and love to people watch. |
Said since 1994...should be US Soccer motto...maybe it is? |
All I see is 2 ODSL teams who look lost and confused |
As PP stated, Barca has shifted its focus to bringing in more $$$ at the expense of quality of the player pool. As a result, they lost some good players, who declined offers to come back, while many underperforming players with rec mentality returned. Authentic curriculum helps, but you need to have the right ingredients too. |
Yeah, let's just be provincial and root for our home teams. Let's make fun of foreign kids wearing lakers apparel or middle eastern kids who also wear barca and real. What do they know (I guess they make exceptions for Messi and Suarez and Dembele and Coutinho - not Catalans, right?). Really broadminded of you. Find another sport if you think this way. Or go back to the council estates, yahoo. |
If there were enough Moroccan kids with real basketball talent, you can bet the Lakers would be there. And the Knicks. And the Bulls. Soccer teams set up academies where they can find players. The problem with soccer in the US is we've got more money than talent. So the clubs go after the former with branding deals instead of trying to recruit and develop players. |
Haha that never stopped them from wearing biking gear ? |
