| I’m a MD resident so I wouldn’t get in state tuition at either university. Which would you choose? Pros? Cons? |
| UVA. Ranked higher, and you get to spend three years in Charlottesville. |
That sounds really bad. Op, undergrad or law school? |
the OP listed UVA law in the thread title. Reading comprehension dear.

OP here, I’m looking to apply for Fall 2020. I’m compiling places that are close to DC that I could commute to. I own a condo and wouldn’t want to give that up to move. I also like already being here for internship/clerkship possibilities.
Could people who attended either school speak to the following? -Social Life - Community surrounding the school - Clinic experiences - Bar exam preparation - Employment opportunities -Professor Quality -Financial Aid -Things you wish you knew - Social Connections are Law School |
| UVA isn’t close to DC, you’ll end up driving 3 hours each way. |
| Did either school give you $? If not, Georgetown for the internship and externship opportunities. |
| GT if you want to work near DC. More connections. |
| If you want to live in DC during law school then definitely Georgetown. Part of law school is the networking and if you live 2-3 hours away not only will you miss that opportunity but also will go crazy with the drive. |
| You haven’t even applied yet? I say apply to both and a few others and see where you get in. |
| Agree that you should apply first and then see how it shakes out. UVA is not an option as a commuter school from DC/MD. |

I went to Georgetown and considered UVA. My experience is pretty old at this point. Both are outstanding schools, and your job prospects coming out will be good.
Neither does Bar preparation- you do that with BarBri post law school. My clinical experience at Georgetown was great and there were lots of options. I had friends in law school, but I didn't find Georgetown to be a law school bubble and had lots of friends not in law schools as well. I am only in kind of distant contact with my law school friends at this point- but that is really not what law school is about. Georgetown is really big- in hiring when I meet a Georgetown student it signals to me that they will probably be a good lawyer- but I don't have the same affinity with them as I would someone from my much smaller undergrad. |
| UVA Law has a much tighter community, and is a huge draw of the school. But that’s completely lost if you are commuting from dc(!?!?!). I am a UVA law grad and could say more, but commuting is so insane i don’t think you should even consider it. |
| Move to Virginia and UVA |
