Fed up with myself. How did I get so fat? Help.

I need a place to rant. I’m actually too embarrassed to rant this to my husband, although I need to, because isn’t that always the first step?

I’m 50 pounds overweight. I have two small children and we want one more. I have put off diet and exercise, figuring when I get pregnant again I’ll gain weight and will need to start over.

But now I’m just stuck being fat, NOT pregnant, and not healthy for my children. I am not sure I am helping enough to carry another pregnancy.

I do all the shopping, which I LOVE grocery shopping and so do my boys. But by self control sucks and I end up buying chocolate covered pretzels. My boys, surprisingly, have a very low sugar and healthy diet. My husband is a normal healthy weight. I am a binge eater and have gained a lot of weight.

Where do I start? Only drink water tomorrow? I’m angry and upset that I let this happen to myself.

I gained and lost 60lbs twice, OP. Don't beat yourself up. It's called life, kids, being busy, being human, etc. The first time I lost 60lbs was by walking everyday, upping water intake and lowering sugar intake. Second time I found Zumba, then Barre and now do a mix of those plus walking.

At the very least, drink more water tomorrow and go for a brisk walk. Stretch before bed and when you get up.

Throw out all the junk and your trigger foods.
Learn to cook healthy, satisfying meals.
Eat more protein and drink more water.
Start exercising, even if it’s taking long walks.

Honestly, stop eating, fast for awhile each day. If you can’t because of hunger, see dr. Anchors for Phen pro to kickstart your plan to eat less and eat less frequently. Read the book “why we get fat.” It is more complicated than calories in calories out. Exercise helps with mood and health but will not make you lose weight. That is really a diet issue.

Speed walking one hour a day at minimum. Outside you go. Gradually adjust food habits, noting major fast because it will hit you back. Walk as much as possible as fast as possible, sweat like a dog. Do it for a week, see how you feel.
if you can do two walks do it. Walk whenever possible. Fast walk has to be or otherwise you won't sweat and this is what you need.. You metabolism will jump to the next level and will keep going all day long. Lunch salad and piece of small bread works great, you can make big salad but have some starch so you wont' be hungry..

People are going to start thinking I’m paid to post this but I started using the (paid) app Transform. It’s carb cycling plus a workout plan. I’ve done everything it’s told me (including adjusting calories down every time it prompted me) and have lost 5 inches off my bust, waist, and hips, each, and 27 lbs (35 more to lose).

The people who just tell you to stop eating are wrong because you will be hungry and it will kkck you back.
Just do the walking and the food will fall in place. You will have less apetite with time.
Nothing good if you will just seat all day and starve.

This is unsustainable for most people. You can walk outside and have tons of healthy oxygen to it.

What is unsustainable? Following a workout plan and carb cycling?

Walking for calorie burn is a waste of time unless it’s straight uphill.

OP said she binge eats, not that she doesn’t know what a proper serving size is. There is no plate that will save her from inhaling chocolate covered pretzels alone.

I have to just not buy the food I’ll binge on. I can eat a whole bag of chips-so now I only buy the lunch box bags of chips for my kids. If I do give in, it’s one bag, not 6 servings. I stopped drinking any calories (except for milk and sugar in my morning tea). Can your husband do the shopping for a while to get the house clear of your binge foods?

I use the lose it app to track calories. Making myself log food makes me way more conscious about how much I’m eating and helps me make better choices. I’m down 20 pounds since February (about 1.5 lbs a week). My next step is to up my exercise (even if it’s just 3x a week when my kids are in bed).

I’ve never been thin, but I got divorced and then my Dad got a terminal diagnosis and died. I gained 20+ pounds. I finally feel normal again and was ready to tackle losing the wright. If I lose another 8 pounds, I’ll be thinner than I have been in 20 years. If I lose 6 more after that I’ll actually have a BMI in the “normal” range (though I would still need some serious toning).

You can do this OP!!

'Fed up' is a good place to start. I was exactly like you last summer (50 lbs to lose). I lost 24 so far doing IF, keto and short fasts (30 hrs), no longer overweight but not my ideal weight yet (but I am working on it).

It's amazing how you stop craving sugar once you eliminate it completely. Do it, for me, 24 hrs was enough. You stop having blood glucose spikes and if you go low carb and not only eliminate sugar it will be even easier.

My solution was not to buy junk food. If I buy a big chocolate bar, i know it'll be gone within hours, so I don't buy it. Can't snack on it if we don't have it. I also cut out all sugary drinks. I only drink water now. That alone caused me to lose 5 pounds.

Then 15-20 minutes on the exercise bike, every day, without fail. Even while on vacation. Stay on a routine.
