Range Rover Velar

I really like it. I ave had both sports and the big range. What’s the niche with velar? Smaller than the sport?

I test drove it and did not see what was so much special about it. It was really small and not much different than any other SUV. It was very nice but nothing exciting.

Evoque -> Velar -> RR Sport -> RR

I did test drive it too. It was handling beautifully. Very responsive, very tight and awesome all over the place. I did love it. Tad to small for my needs so I had to pass but if it was not the case, I would get it without thinking. It is much nicer looking car then anything else in the class.
I love the design. They put a lot of good work inside and out.

To address the bolded remark of PP, there is EVERYTHING exciting about it. No matter how you slice it this is Range Rover we are talking about. This is the car that comes with the aura of the name that people respect. It is Land Rover brand that people associate with British Royalty. The Range Rover is made by Land Rover and since they are VERY expensive cars, they are the cars that sets the wealthy apart and for this reason are the favorite of the upper crust. Owning one is somewhat like wearing a badge, kind of like with Tesla, it is not just a car, it is a status.
It is a car that average person might not even notice but it never goes unnoticed by those who know. So owning it you feel a little bit royal .
I hope that this address your remark and again, you might not find it special, just like Tesla is just a car. Every car is just a car, a box, wheels and engine, takes you from A to B. But you know just as the rest of us that some cars are more then that. This one is one of them.

Jut to add, here is why people respect the brand. It is good enough for the Royals it is good enough for them.

Not only Range Rover but black. Black is the king of car colors at this time, and now you see why.

I didn't find much special about it and hated things like the sunroof didn't open and didn't think it was at all fun to drive. They may be expensive and for the wealthy but I want more to a car than status. And, you can get a 1-2 year old used at a reasonable cost so they don't hold their value very well (though we keep our cars forever so thats not really an issue).

No I don't see why. Every black car and SUV look the same. I want some color.

If you want more to a car then a status then I would suggest Volkswagen Atlas, not much status but gigantic car for around 30K. You certainly should not get into the Velar ownership because this is a car to be appreciated. It is like you would buy a Porsche Carrera and complain that it has too small of a cargo area for your grocery shopping at Costco. You need to buy what you need.

Well, you got it right, you can buy a 1 or 2 year old Velars at reasonable cost because the original owner, a wealthy person loves their cars fresh and brand new and after 1 or 2 year they will hop to the next one so you can have this one. That is why you can buy indeed used one easier because the nature of the beast is such. Wealthy people do not buy used cars. But they are generous in their car hopping so that is why you can have an option.

Lastly your lament that the car is not fun to drive tells me that you are looking for something truly different because I doubt that the most season of the sophisticated driver would deny the Velar to be fun to drive status. However if you do insist it is not fun to drive then the only thing that I feel could fit the bill would be to try and drive the Good Humor Ice-cream Track? It can be had probably for less the Velar and hopeful comes with the free samples of goods.

I am assuming you avoid the black tie gatherings for the same reason? How much more elegant the event would be fi everybody would be dressed like a clown?
Color, what's not to love. One can never get tired of it. Actually one can and this is why most people who perviously owned cars of some colors other then black decided that they got bored and stuck with it. However black never gets old and never get out of style.

A good humor truck would be more fun to drive and more original. We get it. You want to fit in and its all about status. I want fun and different and will be buying new/cash for about $50-60K. The Atlas wasn't anything special either. I haul a lot more than Costco. Some of us actually use our vehicles for more than going to country club black tie events.
