| We don't get out to Virginia much from DC but are planning to hit the air and space Udvar Hazy museum for a space lovers birthday. Any recs for a place to catch dinner afterwards, either near the museum or on the way back to DC? |
| Back in the day we wouldn't ask silly questions like this here, instead search restaurants on Google maps and pick what you want along the route. |
| It's basically just strip malls out there, so fire up Yelp. Dulles Town Center has a bunch, and then there's a strip mall down the road from it (on Waxpool, between Dulles TOwn Center and Smith Swtich Road.. near 1789 club) that is only restauratns.. pretty much just fast casual places. |
| When you will be coming back just swing by Outback in Vienna. Best steaks EVER in the whole DC metro area. |
| There’s not a ton right there. The closest option is right before you get to 66 at Westfields Blvd- there’s a strip with a Chipotle, fast hibachi, subway, Texas Roadhouse and Eggspectation right there but that’s about it. |

Mission Barbeque! Great food and a fun place.

| Eggspectation |

I guess PP doesn’t get out much if PP describes the area as “basically all strip malls” LOL.
We have enjoyed Cheng’s Asian House, Willard’s BBQ, HotSpot, Ochoa Thai Taste of Korea and BurgerShack. The we go to cafein for desserts. have fun. |
| OP what do you like ? There are plenty of choices |
| Thanks for these recs on a very vague request, I admit! Guess I'm interested in food that's hard to find in the District. Like authentic asian that seems more prevalent in the suburbs. Our some interesting farm to table type options. |
| Do you like seafood? If so, Ford’s Fish Shack. |
| Would you be up for Korean BBQ? |
|
If you're willing to head north on route 28 from the museum, Mokomandy in Lowes Island (Sterling) is excellent Korean fused with Cajun-influenced American comfort food. A Taste of Burma and Sortrel Thai are very good authentic restaurants off of route 7. In the OneLoudoun outdoor complex, sense of thai street is authentic regional Thai.
I wouldn't bother with your "interesting farm-to-table" quest because you'd be driving out to western Loudoun to somewhere like Lovettsville or down to Middleburg. downtown Leesburg does have some fine restaurants. |
Yeah ... it’s not that there isn’t this stuff in the suburbs. It’s just not right near UH and would add quite a bit of driving into your trip in the opposite direction. Even the suggestion to go fords sends you 20+ minutes west into Ashburn. |
