| I have found trying to navigate what our soccer options for fall in this area difficult. We moved from out of state where kids played rec or travel. I have an U11 and U13 for the fall. Where should I research? |
| McLean Youth Soccer has both rec and travel. Travel tryouts are happening now so get to it. |

McLean is one of the best travel clubs in the area. Top-notch coaches. They have regular travel as well as ECNL. They also have rec. |
| In addition to McLean, Arlington is also within a short driving distance. Their teams are generally stronger than Mclean's teams and they have DA. If you want a smaller club with smaller training fees and better chance of making the top team, there are several clubs near by such as Vienna and Great Falls Reston. All these clubs have rec programs. |
| Is it U11 B or G? Best U11 Girls in area right now are Loudoun, Mclean, and Arlington |
| So you have a 2009 and 2007? Girls or boys? |
| Definitely depends on gender and age group you are looking at for McLean and other clubs. Check out the leagues the teams you are interested in play for. |
I think the girls side must be stronger than the boys side. We have not had a great experience on boys side. |

I think you could also consider Bethesda South (there boys are quite good as i can see). If you are looking for a smaller club and smaller club vibe, then i would consider Premier AC. They practice not too far away at Luther Jackson MS or Falls Church HS. Its nice b/c the practice times are always the same time and place each season and each year (by age), so that is a big plus if you have a kid that plays other sports b/c you know when practice will be. Admittedly, there website is terrible, but it does list tryout and contact info.

Does Bethesda South even exist anymore? Serious question. They seem to field only 1 boys team in total. |
Some of these clubs practice pretty far from McLean —do not look at mileage from city to city—which can be very misleading. It can take 30-50 minutes+ to get to S Arlington or Reston practice field from mclean in rush hour. Do the drive during rush hour (typical practice times) and see what you would be willing to live with several times a week. When we moved to McLean we thought there would be 4-5 viable clubs based on a google mileage search. Turns out only 2 were really viable with one being far more of a PIA to get to. If you are in Mclean look for clubs with practice fields/facilities located in McLean, NORTH Arlington or some parts of Falls Church (unless you are ok with the drive...and if you do not mind the drive then you should really look at Bethesda which is similar commute if you are close to beltway in McLean...)... |
| Agree with 16:43. If convenience is important, it depends on where in McLean you live. Where I live, Arlington practices in late afternoons/evenings would be real hassle due to traffic. Great Falls would be worse. The most reasonable distances for us are with: McLean, Premier AC, Vienna. All are good options depending on what you want. Different personalities, all have some good teams. |
Boys 06 team is good - i honestly have not looked beyond that. |
If you live north of 123, Great Falls is an easy commute. If you live south of 123, Arlington or Premier AC are better options. |
If you are new to McLean, the soccer club there is excellent and getting your kids involved in it will also open up lots of new potential social relationships for you and your kids. Good luck! |
