| Does anyone know the process for replacing a principal this late in the year for the next school year? Or is this a typical time for this sort of transition? |
| I liked her. |
| This is typical timing. There is a process where a panel of parents and teachers interviews candidates. Then they match you with the person they want you to have regardless of the panel's opinion. |
| This seems later than usual. The process takes a while. Our WOTP school took a couple of months. DCPS has a pool of candidates which kind of stifles the process. Good luck sheperd ES! |
This. Happened to us at Powell and now we're stuck. |
| She pissed off too many parents. |
We are not currently IB for Shepherd but are/were considering buying in the area. She seems very dynamic. Pissed off parents how? |
That's awful, I'm sorry. The Principal can make or break a school. Do you happen to know if the parents/panel documented their concerns about the selected candidate (in writing, not just discussed in person or via phone) to DCPS and DCPS did that anyway? We're a Shepherd family and I'm wondering how to avoid this. We really need the right leader to get Shepherd to where it should be. |
| Good! |
Not what happened. The panel actually chose her. |
| Does anyone have more details/insight on this development? We'll be a new Shepherd family this fall and this feels...not awesome. |
You must be in the minority. I have heard nothing but amazing reviews of her. |
Did downtown want a different candidate and defer to the panel, or did downtown and the panel want the same thing? |
| Principal Brawley angered many parents in her handling of the situation with the teacher who was arrested. Many parents found out from the news. And DCPS central office didn’t help her at all. |
Current Shepherd family. I would have no worries. As a PreK parent, you should be relieved. Trust me. |
