Would a Republican please tell me why it is fair these corporations pay $0 taxes?

Sorry, but this is pure BS. And when they get a rebate, it comes out of MY pocket! These companies take advantage of the US legal system, financial markets, education, clear air, etc., they should pay their fair share. I am amazed more people aren't upset. Additionally,

-- is it right when a hedge fund manager pays a lower tax rate than a NYC policeman?

-- that Jared Kushner's net worth increases by tens of millions yet he pays no taxes.

OK, I am going to be told that everything they do is legal. But that does not make it right.

Because most voters are stupid, and don't understand the tax system. And the Republicans get people riled up about "welfare queens" cheating the system (with thinly veiled racism), while in truth corporate welfare costs orders of magnitude more than our country's social safety net.

+1

And today it's pushing "illegals" and other boogeymen to distract from tax cuts and other bennies for the ultrarich and corporations.

a refund is not a rebate nor a credit .

Well, first of all this republican will tell you that Collins pays ZERO in federal taxes, so this is all based on lies. Secondly, why do republicans have to defend the world’s most rich liberal Jeff Bezos for not paying taxes. Take your beef up with him.

So? The OP's point is that the effective tax rate on the average working stiff is much higher than it is on highly profitable corporations.

I'm a Republican. I with you that taxes should be looked at. I would guess there is a balance to find that keeps /draws businesses to the US, but doesnt incentivize to the point that it becomes stark inequity? I would love to see sheltering, loopholes, havens etc heavily disencentivized or closed. What really bothers me is executive pay. What do Democrats propose to do about these insane parachutes? Any legislation theyve come up with? Maybe you can convert me. Oh, but unlawful immigration is a problem. It's not either/or.

Ok, would you prefer that we take up our beef with the Trump loving Adelsons who keep their money in offshore accounts? Mrs. Adelson just got the Medal of Freedom from Trump, for what, no one could really tell.

Or the Mercers who have plenty of $ to donate to the GOP even while they owe $7bn to the IRS.

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why Trump passed a very smart tax reform...and why Dems should wake up to the facts.

So change the laws. We voted for the politicians who put in place these laws. Next time you vote for the government to give tax credits to encourage scientific research and development, know that some of that money is going to offset the tax liabilities of a company like Amazon. Next time you vote for the government to encourage revitalization of under-developed neighborhoods, know that some of that tax credit is going to offset the tax liabilities of a company like Amazon. Next time you vote for favorable tax treatment for employee ownership of company shares, know that some of that favorable treatment is going to benefit a company like Amazon.

So smart that a minority of Americans approve of it.

I am not a Republican, but...

It is fair because the tax laws were written and passed in a democratic fashion by representatives elected by the people. Amazon, etc. are free to operate as they please within the law in order to minimize their tax liabilities. As are we as citizens.

If you don't like the current tax code (and there is much about it to dislike), you are free to work to change it. But don't blame Amazon (etc.) for taking advantage of a situation that benefits them.

Partisan Democrats: please recognize that your present leadership is only slightly more interested in fixing our tax policy. Top Democrats also try to please big donors.

No, you Republicans HAVE TO explain and defend these ludicrous tax cuts for the richest and for megacorporations because YOU are the ones who put them there. It's not about Bezos. Can't fault him for taking advantage of what YOU gave him.

+1 You want to soak Bezos and his billionaire brethren? Put in an estate tax that has more teeth. Close the loophole on carried interest for hedge funds. But no, the Republicans are the first to say there's no need for a "death tax" and we're building wealth that will go on for 100 generations.
