Mercedes GLE or Beamer X5?

Just wondering. Not need one soon but wondering which one is a nicer car and a better car. I had no idea that people have such a strong opinion in general BMW vs Mercedes. It was fascinating to learn how much prejudice is invested in each brand especially by the owners of the opposite

Curious about what DCUM think about owning Beamer vs MB? Is it really such a widespread animosity or am I taking few opinions as a general opinion that has no reflection in reality.

Probably neither MB nor BMW. Might go actually Porsche. The cool factor through the roof at same price or lower.

Jaguar SUVs are really mediocre compared to pretty much everything else in the segment.

I love the new GLE, and I might be getting it for my next car. The new dash is amazing.

I am not a BMW fan. They have terrible service.

You need to go drive both of them. People tend to have a strong preference for one or the other based on look, feel, etc. They are about the same on service--you can count on a lot of maintenance and repair costs after 5 years for any German car. I'm currently driving the X5, which I've had for 10 years. The newly re-designed X5 now is out, and is very well reviewed by Consumer Reports and generally.

I recently purchased an X5 and really regret it. I have had so many problems with it. And they have not been able to fix it. I might actually force them to replace it per the lemon law in my state. So I vote Mercedes.

Seriously? So you are saying that GLE is for a-holes?

GLE seems much bigger outside and inside. Lots of legroom. Their newest model 2020 came out and it overshadows BMW's 2019 model.
I suppose once the BMW releases 2020 model, then they will be comparable but at this point it seems that 2020 GLE that is already being sold seems like more for the money then 2019 BMW that by comparison seems to be behind the GLE. It is sort of like buying older technology at this point. GLE 2020 has more standard options then BMW 2019 so by the time you add everything to reach the same level you are looking at some 10K more to spend.

Why DCUM crowd seems to hate BMW drivers so much? BMWs are nice and reliable cars so what is the issue? Can someone like few cars and not be anal about other cars? It is okay to make point if you think one car is better then another and show why and how but just being so rude about the people who drive them, that is really something.
