If you love comfortably in LA...

What is your HHI, how many kids, and where do you live? Trying to get a sense of the real COL.

**LIVE*** comfortably, not love.

I don’t live comfortably by any means.

I make 120k per year.

Single no kids.

I rent and live in the valley.

It sucks.

Looking to move as soon as I can (job wise).

I’ve lived in LA for 12 yrs

Varies, but $320k last couple of years. LA suburbs. I don’t live comfortably either. Watch every penny. 2 kids.

$400K, Beverly Hills, 2 kids, OK but we don't live extravagantly and our kids go to public school.

OP there is a huge scope of differences in living in LA. We sent our kids to a French school and my kid's best friend lived in a $14million house with her many siblings and oligarch father who piloted his own jet to Thailand for kicks. We lived in an apt that cost around $800k and I piloted an old toyota corolla.

We are comfortable, but not swimming in cash.

Our HHI is $350K net. Two kids, one in private. We live in the suburbs (SF Valley). We bought a 1500sqft house for $1.1M. We take a "real" vacation every couple of years. I would consider us to be somewhat frugal.

HHI is 550K, but likely to go up since I will be changing jobs from gov't to private sector. Live in West LA in a 1.5M home. One child, too young for school but we will be sending to private school when he is old enough.

Not sure why you can’t live comfortably on $120,000. It may be difficult to buy a single detached house in a nice area on that income though.

$280 and we live comfortably, own a 1600sf house in Glendale. One in preschool, one in public elementary. We vacation yearly and save for retirement/college and eat well.

My rent is 2300 per month.
Car payment 600
Insurance and health insurance
Gas
Utilities
Phone
Gym

After taxes 120000 isn’t that much in LA. Especially living alone

Had an offer to move to la but a little crapbox was 2 million and the public schools are a mess, so that was a no go. Our hhi would have been 250 or so.

you obviously didn't do your homework. you can get a 4 bed house in Calabasas for less than $1mil, with a pool.

Of an HHI of $250, in less you have a good downpayment, $1mil is insane.
