Reminder during that during this constant tidal wave of promo code shilling appeals that Jen Hatmaker once wrote a book entitled 7: An Experimental Mutiny Against Excess.

Instead of stripping away all but the necessities, choosing seven things each month in different areas (social media, a limited but healthy diet, clothes, etc.), it’s now become buy seven of my personally designed bags for $$$ each, sweaters in three colors, expensive jeans, $300 boots, my personal designed necklace, inspirational t-shirts, skin care, make up, and OH, pay me MeCourses, Book Club, cruises, European trips, tickets to personal appearances, with VIP tickets for an extra $150 to mingle with me.

She’s gotten so far off track. And either she doesn’t realize it, or says, screw it, I’m here to make money off of you by convincing you I’m still the same compassionate person, sympathy begging one day because of the OMG heartache I’ve gone through, to I am women hear me roar the next and look how far I’ve come.

I can’t even imagine how she’s going to handle getting older and less and less relevant.

My heart breaks for any child or teenager growing up in a home where the attitude from the parent is “I do what i want because i pay the bills” even down to deciding how to decorate the christmas tree - which is just the type of little thing my teens and i love to decide and do together

Jen is DRUNK in today’s update. She’s working on a MeCourse on day drinking.

The clapping and finger snapping makes me crazy. I can’t be the only one. Such a turn off. And Tyler sure doesn’t want to be in the videos. She makes a point to say he’s not there, because it’s so awkward.

She takes awkward, embarrassing cringe to a whole new level…

I don't understand her obsession with talking about how she pays the bills at her house. She brings it up ALL the time. At least once a week. I pay the bills so I park here. I pay the bills so it's my fridge. I pay the bills so here is my style of Christmas tree. I get it but why the need to bring it up so much? It isn't funny. Maybe she thinks it is sassy but it comes off as bitter and resentful and like there is something underneath. Maybe anger at still having kids at home, or having too many kids there, or something about Remy being adopted so Jen doesn't see her as worthy. But it's not normal for a mother to constantly whine about paying household expenses for a minor child.

Maybe she should see a therapist about it. A real one, not one that she is in business with.

Yes, and calling their Christmas ornaments trash. She really resents her kids.

She’s just a selfish a-hole. And tacky. Go get a real job and leave your kids alone.

omg I absolutely agree, it's like her audience is a bunch of third graders at recess.

Jen has decided to go for a new image- hot middle aged single, out for her own new adventures, unmarried sex, materialism, no rules. Hedonism comes to mind. As such, the "mom" persona no longer fits her and she has shaken it off. Her kids are like renters or friends of the family. How sad to have to live your life by picking a character and discarding everyone who doesn't fit with the narrative. She seems to resent and be be uncomfortable with anything still in her life from "before"- particularly, being a mother. She is floundering.

In a way, they are. Why would any mature, stable adult follow someone like her for life advice and guidance.

Jen has somewhat successfully monetized a sad midlife crisis. She's so gross. And she double downs instead of course correcting which is insane.

I can't believe I once recommended her books to friends.

Literally this. Like we don’t all PAY OUR BILLS? 🙄 She’s atrocious.
