FET - Valium and Bed Rest

Anonymous
Hi - I have an FET coming up in a couple of weeks. First 2 transfers were fresh, and I did not take valium or do the 2 day bed rest.

Thinking this time around I will both take valium and do the bed rest. Has anyone done both? What results did you get?

I did both and it worked (well, so far - just saw the heartbeat at 6w6d, but I'm assuming the bed rest mostly matters for implantation.) I hadn't been planning on doing the bed rest but my clinic was so insistent about it, as was my acupuncturist, that I felt like I better just follow instructions and see what happened. I never questioned taking the valium - figures it couldn't hurt, might help, and didn't erally feel anything from it.

Why Valium? It doesn’t hurt.

What clinic around here recommends Valium? Certainly not SG

CCRM does Valium for FETs.

Thank you! Did you do a full 48 hours? Dumb question, but did you literally just get up to pee or more than that?

So ridiculous. There is no evidence those things matter. They only recommend them so you feel better about doing "everything you could".

And wtf is wrong with that?

Is the bed rest a new thing? They were not recommending that a few years ago.

OP here - I had two fresh transfers, one in 2017 and one is 2018 and was not told anything about bedrest. In Googling about FETs, I came across a number of sites that mention it.

Just to pee. I laid on the couch the rest of the time. My mom (who is retired) came over to help me out during the day.

I agree with other posters that I'm not sure the evidence supports it. But my clinic (ORM) has good success rates and I just felt better feeling like I was doing something. Also, it was kind of nice to feel like I could focus on the embryo implanting instead of work or anything like that. Not sure if my patience would have held up/will hold up for multiple transfers though - so far, it worked the first time, fortunately.

PP. Oh, and the nurse told me I could sit up to eat meals, thank God.

It’s SO ridiculous to spend tens of thousands of dollars and then want to try everything possible.

It used to be Oregon Reproductive Medicine. I think they changed their name to just the initials in order to expand.
