Please stop doing this. I’d grant you putting your child on a bike by around ~10 months, but I’d be shocked if that baby was over 3 months old. She didn’t look like she could keep her head up with the helmet and all that bumping along the grass and bike path was truly horrifying to watch. AAP recommends not putting your kid on a bike until a year. Please stop rattling your baby’s brain. |
I'd be more worried about positional asphyxiation than brain rattling. I'm suprised he could even strap a 3 month old in, though....? |
Yes that too. I mean, it’s been a while since I’ve had a newborn but there is at least NO WAY that kid was sitting up by herself yet. |
Alarming, but I’m not shocked. My XH was so eager to show off what a great dad he was that he tried to pick up 1 mo. old DD with a bike trailer for his first unsupervised visit. Of course, I said no and he accused me of interfering with his parenting time. Luckily, the responding cop was a new dad himself. |
Potentially it is his only means of transportation |
Then he needs to get another means for a few months or not take the baby out for those few months. |
+1. He can walk. Carrying the baby on the bus is safer. |
Agreed. Yikes! |
Hipster dads have some weird macho thing about biking unsafely with their babies. |
This is child endangerment. |
For all of you busy bodies, MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS! |
horrible. I am so angry |
OP why couldn't you say something in person? |
No, this isn't a MYOB situation. I was also quite eager to get our second child into the bike trailer or a bike seat (bought a new one just for him actually) but you're not supposed to bike with a child until they are a year old. As one PP said, I could see if the baby was close to one year, but three months old? Can hardly hold their head up? No. |
If he doesn't have a car, he can use any of these options, many of which are cheaper than a hipster bike carrier. Stroller and walk Ergo and walk Bus Metro Uber Taxi |
