| Our son gets a lot of B's in the 9th grade. Starting to worry. What schools have higher acceptance rates? He is at BCC and smart, but mainly B student now.... May change... Thx |
Will you be full pay? For a public or private? Indiana U. has a high admit rate. So does Miami U of Ohio. Juniata comes to mind. It all depends upon what he's interested in. Maybe take him on a few college tours and give him something to shoot for. Is he a good athlete? Can he sign up for a rowing team? (Blair HS has a $900/semester rowing club team open to the community). |
PS - It was very motivating for my DD to go on a college tour that I dragged her to. She loved everything she saw and heard and paid attention when the admissions officer told her what the typical SAT scores of admittees are. |
Please don’t worry. There will be hundreds of great schools for a B or (gasp) even C student to chose from. |
We're in the same boat. No brilliant suggestions, but a lot of sympathy. Interesting idea from the PP about taking him on college tours. I think the whole thing just seems very abstract now - I don't want to make him crazy but perhaps he'd see some place and like it enough to serve as some motivation. |
| you have lots of time..but to ease you mind, buy a College Guide like Princeton Review"s best colleges. You will see that your child has lots of quality options. I suggest you stay off this site; it is toxic and skewed. |
