He doesn’t do heroin. He is smart, talented and witty, and must be cool enough to have kept Taylor’s obsession going for a decade, during which she wrote at least 40-50 songs about him. Matty wrote some about her too. It’s one of the best kept secrets in the industry how much these were into each other (and cheating on multiple partners with each other; eg Halsey, Joe….) He is Lover and Reputation and Folklore and Evermore and TTPD. So you can hate and disparage him all you want, but half of your fave TS songs were likely inspired by Matty Healy. Muse of the decade!

DP. He definitely was addicted to heroin. I think the evidence that all those songs are about him is thin but I do think that she was more into him than she is into Travis (and that healey was into her).

Travis is a rebound guy. They say you need half the time of a relationship to get over it and he’s right in that zone given her 8 year relationship with Joe. Everything about this relationship screams “I’m not sad you dumped me. Look at me”. Travis is too cheesy and simple for her long term.

He's a drug addict. He has all the hallmarks of a drug addict.... and apparently a cheater by your story.

The reason women like you stay with loser drug addicts is you create a false story of who the person was or can be and you just keep hoping he will be that person again... but he is who he is right now and that's not something worth dating or marrying.

Matty has been clean for years. So many celebs use drugs in their youth but then get clean. Does he still smoke weed? Probably. But then probably so does Taylor and millions of other people. Weed and heroin are two very different drugs.

Your narrative of her having grown up and moved on is wrong, because Matty is the one who left her, not the other way around. Had it been up to Taylor, she would have dated and likely married him. Heck, she probably still would if he came back for her. In her own words, he is her twin, and the closest her heart had come to exploding was when Matty Healy moved her ring to the ring finger under the table during dinner in public. But then the vipers (I’m looking at you) came after them, and the rest is history.

Taylor at best is 22 -- she never grew up. She stopped growing emotionally. So I do not think the drinks are off. It is what you do when you are 22. Luckily for her she now has a man that also is stuck maybe at about 25. That is why their relationship works.

+1 They both seem like mid-30s people who are stunted and have a lot of money acting like they are in their 20s. Both seem to really like attention. Kind of perfect really!

This is a funny take to me. What does “acting like they are in their 20s” even mean? That they are having fun together? That they don’t have kids yet? Drinking and partying? None of that is just a 20s thing.

They are both hugely successful and very business oriented. They are both motivated. That all shows maturity.

Neither of them are stunted at all.

I think Taylor is great but I actually agree she's kind of stunted. And him even more so. I know a couple IRL who actually remind me a lot of them. This couple is now in their 40s with a kid and I still think they are immature. A lot of it is the way they present and carry themselves. It's all like "aren't we cute" -- it's self conscious and self absorbed. In T&T's case I'm sure it's a lot the result of being the public eye for their entire adult lives and not having people around them who criticize them or disagree with them. They are too successful to have that kind of low level conflict in their lives especially Taylor.

A lot of immaturity around them too in Taylor's circle of friends -- a lot of self absorbed people who don't take a ton of responsibility for themselves. Again including some people whose work I like. But also being youngish and wealthy and famous and beautiful is not a recipe for maturity and levelheadedness. Look how many of Taylor's friends have effed up relationship histories (look at her relationship history) and all the drinking and partying. I'm not a teetotaler or something but at some point in your life maturity means letting go of the short-term fun of that behavior all the time in order to focus on things that are more lasting. Whether that's your marriage or kids or charitable work or whatever. Something bigger than you. Being successful and good at business is not "maturity" in the way I mean.

Short term fun? Taylor is one of the hardest working women in the business. She wasn’t gifted with a perfect body or looks, she become a pop star because she writes her own songs, prolifically, and works hard at the business. She said herself she’s smart and hardworking and in the world those aren’t seen as assets, but she’s laughing all the way to the bank.

Is she stunted? If so, she’s doing very well for herself. I know some really stunted people who are not doing even a tiny fraction as well as she is.

It's very different to be an addict and smoke and drink and NOT be an addict and smoke and drink.
