Right, but the earlier point was to be careful if choosing SLJ for athletics and then the athetics don't pan out.

Nothing wrong with Elon or Radford. They may not be Harvard and Yale (which are both on the list, by the way) but they are darn good schools. I have no opinion either way about SJC, but I worry that you have no clue how ridiculous you sound!

It’s a low rent Catholic school in DMV that had one decent lax season and a couple of D1 lax recruits and now they think they are special. Just sad.

What team in recent memory can match what SJC did last season? They dominated everyone they played... no games were really that close.

I'm a buyer and do believe the Cadets are here to stay in the DMV. (look at their football team) Sadly the Gonzaga / Prep people will continue to moan and groan about academic standards military road due to their inferiority complex.

Is SJC a new powerhouse or are they just riding one power class? That question won’t be answered until 2023. The haters and the boosters can take shots at each other all day, but we won’t know for sure for another year.

By all means let the SJC folks bask in the success of this 22 lacrosse class. They are a talented and successful bunch and deserve all the accolades coming their way. But maybe slow your roll a little on the way up, cause the way down might be pretty painful.

The SJC hate is the same as it was back in the 80's-90's...its just amplified now due to the internet. People just cannot accept that SJC has gotten better in all aspects. A school that was once close to being closed in the early 90's has done remarkably well. But, you get certain people...sitting at Columbia CC or Caddies or the Avenue....wishing for their days getting into Nantucket's Landing with their brothers fake ID and mulling the fact that their school is not as relevant as it once was. I know the type.....I grew up around them....and every time I go back to the neighborhood.....they are still reliving their HS days. All of them wearing a variation of the same uniform. HS logo attire sweat shirt or hoody....orange baseball hat or a bucket hat....track suit pants or cargo shorts....flip flops or slides...and oakleys.

if I had to guess who on here is shitting on SJC, it's most likely those affiliated with the Gonzaga and GP communities. There is a fair amount of cross-pollination between the three schools.

The rest of the IAC schools compete amongst themselves and some kids from MAC schools for applicants.

2017 Landon-Undefeated Season
2019 Bullis-Won GEICO Championship

2016 Bullis

Bullis defeated Boys Latin and McDonogh (McDonogh's only loss). Bullis won 19 straight games to end the season.

Bullis, Prep, Landon and Gonzaga don’t pay for talent.

Um actually Bullis does (or did until very recently with headmaster change). The rest don't.

The only thing STJ has going for it is it’s cheaper than the good privates. But you get what you pay for and it’s unlikely to get the legitimate lax players who also want an excellent education and top alum network for more than a couple years. Most people who pay anything for high schoool want to feel like they are getting at least a bit of prestige and that’s not going to be STJ. Plus All the crowing over last year doesn’t take into account the impacts of COVID so whatever. We shall see how they do in spring of 2023. That will be most telling.

Landon has an actual $10,000 scholarship that they use to pay a portion of lax players’ tuitions. Plus, back in the day Landon was known for “finding” financial aid for lax players who didn’t really need it.

Bullis bought players for several years. That’s how they won for a couple of years - bought themselves a lax championship. That’s now over with new, legitimate headmaster.

Not sure about GP and Gonzaga as far as mitigating players’ tuition but they seem to have fought over the same players for about a decade - mostly the top lax players coming out of Mater Delay - and the other Catholic parochials. GP is legitimately a great school so they shouldn’t have a problem continuing to attract top talent. I’d bet on GP long term personally. It’s the most reputable Catholic with the best campus and alum connections. GZ can go either way but tons of bad press last few years along with crap location. They too though have a strong alum network but but as prestigious as GP.

It’s now STJs turn and they are a much cheaper school to start with so will be able to get the players who can’t or don’t want to pay for high school. As evidenced by the examples above, however that won’t last but so long.

Hmmm. Maybe this is a jealous STA parent. Look your team is always an IAC bottom feeder and now STA can’t compete with the WCAC top teams. If your un-athletic smart kid gets into Tufts is not over looked by the good lax player at SJC who goes to MI or Lehigh. People on this thread care more about lacrosse than academics. At least when posting here.
