My pet conspiracy theory: Have always been convinced Epstein was running honey trap operation for a foreign intelligence service. With the knowledge of the US government. He had too much unexplained money and the people caught in his web were spread across the political spectrum. He got off both because he had too much dirt on powerful people AND he and whatever foreign government sponsored him would share their blackmail goods with US intelligence, and no one wanted that to come out either.

Epstein supposedly had an incredibly charming personality. My guess is that he lied about his credentials and charmed Barr’s father. He then used Barr’s connections to catapult himself into finance. IIRC, Ace Greenberg sent his kids to Dalton and then poached Epstein from the school.

It seems that Epstein collected dirt on everyone where he went. Once he had dirt on you, they were more than happy to move Epstein onto his next victim. My supposition is that Epstein got some dirt on the elder Barr (sexual exploitation of minors? Private schools were hotbeds of sex abuse back then...) and then Barr was only too happy to connect Epstein to someone else so he’d leave the school.

Such a strange & enigmatic psychopath. Epstein’s brother is still alive and was closely connected to his business affairs - I’m hoping he’s been thoroughly interrogated.
