Did you send your first choice school a letter?

Just curious. Did you send a letter to your first choice school making it clear that they were your first choice? I did not and am concerned that I should have. Do they make a difference you think?
Anonymous
Did not. Didn't even think of it. Still not inclined to do it should we go through this again (but then again, maybe someone will convince that I'm wrong).
Anonymous
Nope, we didnt either. But I tend to think (and please correct me someone if I'm wrong), that these probably don't make much difference at the most sought after schools. They surely must know how sought after they are, and so if you get in there, you go.

No, it just seemed to brown-nosey. I'll probably regret it though!

Did anyone else do it?

I sent Sidwell a you can have my first born child letter last year. Didn't help.

I did.

Not sure if its the same thing, but I sent a thank you note after the tour/interview saying I thought it would be a good fit for us. We got in, but I'm not sure if thank you notes are either so standard as to not make a difference or ignored by the admissions staff.

I sent a thank you note but I think they are generally ingored.

I forgot to send even a thank you note for our last play date. I'm just exhausted by sending them.

I didn't send any "first choice" letters. Oh well.

I sent one to our first choice preschool.

DC wrote Thank-you notes for Playdates and drew pictures; misspellings and all It was cute! I also sent thank-you's after tours and interviews. I am not sure it all matters. What will be - will be. The weekend is coming!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you mind me asking how old your child is? (Mine just turned three, so the thank-you notes from him won't happen this year!) But it's a nice idea. Good luck to you.

PP - DC is 5; DC has good hand writing and uses letter sounds to spell which is why some words were misspelled.

Give me a break, thank you notes from your 5 year-old? Sounds very brown-nosy to me. I wouldn't do it. They know you want to get in there. Otherwise you wouldn't have bothered applying.

I disagree and your response was a bit harsh. It is just like parents sending notes.

Shouldn't we teach are children to write thank - you's when they enjoy themselves or have a good time. This is etiquette not brown - nosy. Same as when children attend a party and thank the host for inviting them.
