I'm 7 days post a 5dt. Last night I took a FRER test and got a reasonably clear line - definitely fainter than the control but not a squinter either. This morning, about 10 hours later, I did it again and got about the same line - maybe a shade lighter (at first it looked visibly lighter but I think it darkened a bit as it dried). I know not much time passed, but I was expecting it to be darker due to FMU. Should I be freaking out?
Beta is on Friday. Took a digital FRER at noon and that was a positive. (Also, I'll post a picture of the tests if there's a way to do that - anyone know?) |
I got a bfp with a frer on 11dpo. I tested every morning thereafter and felt like they all seemed the same more or less. Finally 15dpo was as dark as the control line and 18dpo test was darker than control. Everything turned out fine. I think looking back when you're that early, there's not much difference on a frer with a beta of 20 vs 40 vs 60.
Keep testing. As long as you're seeing a clear line and it's not getting fainter I would remain optimistic.
My afternoon tests were always darker than my morning test. I had the same experience as you’re having with my first pregnancy. He’s 9 now . Keep the faith!

I started testing at 10dp5dt. There were lines but not very dark and they never got darker. I stopped testing after my beta on 14dp5dt. I used Wondfo. I am 19 weeks.
and oops, also, congrats!!! |
It took a while for my tests to get darker. Good luck to you!
I wouldn’t worry yet. There is a variation test to test and there was only 10 hours in between. You seem to have a solid positive, I think that’s more important as a predictor.
Congratulations! No you should not be freaking out. I took several HPTs with high sensitivity (10 mIU/ml, just a little less sensitive than FRERs) starting at 11 days past my IUI (about every other day) and it took several days for the line to darken noticeably (based on the blood tests my HCG was increasing perfectly well). HPTs are not good for measuring HCG levels, that's why the clinics do the blood tests.
Lines that don't darken always end up in an early miscarriage for me, BUT I would judge progress based on every 48 hours, definitely not just 2 tests 10 hours apart. Good luck!
Ugh, isn't it a torturous wait? If it didn't get darker after 3-4 days, I might worry. Definitely not at this point. Best of luck.
OP. Thanks, everyone. Today's test (from the morning) looks about the same - maybe a SMIDGE darker - than yesterday. So I guess I wait for the beta tomorrow. I appreciate all your stories! I was so hopeful when I saw the first line. This is the first time I've ever gotten a positive at all, but now there's so much stress involved in the waiting that I didn't anticipate!
Oh my lines never really got darker during 2ww and then I got a strong beta- I hope it works out for you.
My lines only didn’t get darker with nonviable on FRER. Hoping for you.
Let us know how your beta goes today OP!
