Amazing. I’m down 15 pounds in a month on a whole foods plant based no oil diet. 50-year-old menopausal woman, back down to normal weight in 1 months. So easy, so delicious. I’m sleeping better, tons more energy, and building muscle in the gym. Would like to go another 15 pounds to feel really slim. Wish me luck.

That is totally awesome! Congratulations and good luck! Do you follow a particular doctor - Fuhrman, Greger?

Congrats!

I did smth very similar last summer although I didn't know the name of that diet. I was in a remote village in Eastern Europe and was mosly eating what I could buy from local people - veggies, eggs, cottage cheese, rarely some chicken - and avoiding small stores with commercially produced food. I lost about 10 pounds in one month. I probably should open a weightloss rehab there

But I also went low calorie at the same time, so I am not sure if it was all about calorie restriction or the food I ate also mattered.

So I am very interested whether you were tracking how many calories a day you had?

The food you eat doesn't matter. At the end of the day weight loss always comes down to a calorie deficit. Different combos of food/different diets work better for some people than others so you need to figure which plan you can see yourself sticking to for the long term.

"no oils"? Please explain. I've never heard of this plan.

Yes, I mostly agree with you, I believe in calories in calories out, too. And I've read tons of scientific info on weightloss, so yeah, it really looks like it's all about calories... Still, lately I started having doubts because after I returned from that village and started eating more fat and protein my weightloss became sooo slow even though calorie deficit remained pretty much the same. But I don't want to hijack OP's thread

Not OP, but I try to follow a similar plan too. The idea is to eat food from whole plant based foods and no animal proteins. No oils either since oils are considered empty calories. According to this diet it is best to eat the whole food (coconut, olives, seeds/nuts/avocados) instead of the extracted oils which is devoid of the fiber. Look up Dr Joel Fuhrman or Dr Michael Greger.

would love to see a sample menu for the day and any links to recipes.

Weightloss is about calories in/calories out, but a plant based diet (as opposed to low carb) is much more beneficial to health. ALL fruits and vegetables, in their array of colors and fiber, are cancer fighting badasses.

A plant based diet helped me lose 50lbs, I think in big part because they're filling. They are overwhelmingly low calorie for the amount you can eat, full of water and fiber - and you can eat larger quantities (helpful if you're someone who just likes to eat a lot of food! )

Good job OP! Keep it up!

I’m looking to go vegan but am not sure I can hack no oil. However I made a dinner we all ate (including a preschooler) that was compliant with OP’s diet - oil-free red lentil chili over white rice with some baby spinach chiffonaded into the rice. We all ate it for two dinners in a row and I got the recipe when I searched for vegan staple meals on YouTube.

I wouldn't reccomend no oil if you are going vegan. You need some good oils 1) to carry vitamins like vitamin D and 2) because they really do help you feel satisfied.
