Rumor about LAMB lottery

Anonymous
I heard a rumor (from friend of friend) that people have figured out how to enter their kids in the LAMB lottery multiple times. This really makes me mad but of course it might just be talk. Has anyone else heard of this?

Well, why don't you search for duplicate initials+birthdays in the released list.

The only other way to do it would be to use fake names, but this would make registration a challenge.

You could also use a fake name strategy in the myschooldc lottery if you wanted, but again how do you explain when you try to register.

You can also report this rumor to the PCSB and ask them to look into it.

Repeating and spreading the rumor on DCUM is the least effective thing you can do.

I don’t see how you can do this and not get caught. They check birth certificate when you enroll. So people may do this with fake names and birthdates but it wouldn’t work past May 1 (enrollment deadline). It feels pretty irresponsible for you to spread this rumor.

Truly did not mean to ruffle feathers, i apologize. I am just so tired of people scamming the system (hi felicity and lori!) and this felt closer to home so I wanted to vent, but I ended up fanning the flame. If you folks are telling me that making multiple fake profiles wouldn’t actually work, then I’m happy with that.

I heard that the LAMB lottery was audited somewhat recently. Anyone know if that is true?

I think we can add Dr. Dre to the list. Not illegal, but damn idiotic.

It's the week before lottery results are up so everyone (read: DCUM commentariat) is more on edge than usual. Rumors are fanned, offense is taken, and everyone is just waiting for the Thursday night/Friday morning news.

As others have said, it would be extremely difficult to show up to register your child if the birthday or the name did not match what you put in the application. Additionally, I asked a (sort of) similar question during Ed Fest and was told that the staff review the list during the period between March 1 (when the lottery closes) and March 20 (when the lottery is held) to ensure there are no double entries.

I will admit though, I am now incredibly curious as to who felicity and lori are, and how they managed to scam the system.

I think Felicity and Lori = actresses Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin, who scam-bought their kids' way into elite universities.

I did find at least one identical initials with the same birthdate when I was searching for a friend's kid.

FWIW, there's no way to know but presumably they have taken steps to make sure it's all good. In a prior year, my kid appeared to be on there twice so I kind of wondered too, but there are enough kids that you could have the same initials and birthdates, it's possible. We did *not* get in.

Thanks Aunt Becky!

Guessing here. You could enter with your kid's middle name and then last name and birthday. Then kid's first name and last name and birthday. Then nickname (so Beth instead of Elizabeth) and maybe that time mix up the birthday a bit June 30 instead of 31, which looks like an honest mistake if you get in.

Then for parents you need different emails and you can do the same with middle and nick names. You can use random different addresses since the address doesn't need to match May paperwork (just say you moved).

I can't see doing this more than 3 times and it is still a bit risky, but if you have a common last name (smith or jones) it might work.

Hopefully if what PP said is true, an audit would catch this.
