Jane the Virgin (Season 5 premieres this week) - SPOILERS

Anonymous
I just started watching this show recently (all 4 seasons on Netflix) and it’s such a good show!

For those that watch, any thoughts / expectations for Season 5?
(No spoilers if you know any, please.)

And the cliffhangers... oy vey.
I was really worried about Rafael in the end there. Glad he wasn’t shot.
So who do you think was???

This is the final season, but there’s a spin-off in the works based on Jane’s novels.

Spoiler Alert. . . .

I loved it!! One thing this show has always done so well is make every scene count. Each one is perfectly crafted to sit within the larger context of the show, both narratively and stylistically. I really appreciated it.

And so, an amnesia story line! How perfect! THE quintessential telenovela plot device. I literally jumped from my sofa in delight. What a great start to the final season.

I think/hope Michael/Jason is faking it!

I’ve always wanted her to be with Raphael. He’s just more interesting and multidimensional. Michael is lovely, but his character has been the same through the whole series. (Maybe it will be different now, though. ) Jane is such a romantic, she kind of needs the roller coaster ride of Raphael to give energy to the romance.

I don't know. I mean, it's a telenovela so it had to happen. But my heart aches for Jane. She was moved on and ready to marry Raphael! Now, she's "married" to Jason...?

I was crying in the beginning with her talking to the gravestone. Wahhhhh.

Shall we take predictions?!? How will it end?!?

Me, too. Also, the flashback of the moment on the phone she learns of Michael’s death. It gave me chills and made me cry instantly the first time and again last night.

Gina Rodriguez is amazing.

I think she has to end up with Raphael. They have a child together. Romance novels and telenovelas are all about the fatefulness of finding your One True Love, and the entire show has hinged on the insemination mixup in the very first episode.

I agree. But I do think she was bordering on "overacting" in the whole scene with "I'm going to go write" and then she walks back and forth and does her monologue. It was a bit shrill.

But her crying at the gravestone is heart wrenching.

Alba by far is the best actress in the show!
