Richmond, Bucknell

Anonymous
Had someone tell me today that if you like Richmond, you should look at Bucknell. Similar academically? Bucknell is in the middle of nowhere, but maybe that's good. Anyone else consider them similar, or which other schools comparable with Richmond? We are about 1400 SATs, 33 ACT.

Honestly I have no idea. But I live in Richmond and really like it here. We call it U of R

I would consider Colgate similar to Bucknell and given those two and Bucknell I would say consider W & L as well.

I'd lump Bucknell in with Colgate, Lehigh and Richmond. W&L seems like a douchey southern greek bastion of douchedom and ignorant assholery.

Disagree.

To me I think of Lehigh for engineering. I think of Richmond, Colgate and Bucknell more for finance and economics - although I realize Bucknell has engineering. When I think of top SLACs for finance hard not to include W&L.

Richmond is really only good for humanities, political science, etc.

For a science major you want Colgate, Lehigh, or Bucknell

For business you may want Lehigh for its proximity to NYC but Colgate and Bucknell have equally strong programs

For engineering Lehigh is above the rest, but Bucknell is fine too.

I know nothing about W&L other than its lily white frat nonsense reputation.

Jobs coming out of the humanities are dying.

I’m not entirely sure there were ever quality jobs available for humanities majors.
