Going to an 80s theme birthday party and guests are encouraged to dress up because we are seeing a leg warmers show. I was browsing through Unique Vintage and came across this look.
https://www.unique-vintage.com/products/barbie-x-unique-vintage-peaches-n-cream-chiffon-dress?variant=16224754892902&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI5JGyjPiM4QIVh1uGCh042Au_EAQYBCABEgKqXfD_BwE I stopped in my tracks because I remember having this Barbie doll back in 1984 and I loved her so much. The little five your old in me just got so excited that there was an adult version of the dress! I’m tempted to get it for this party but honestly would probably never have another use for it and it’s not cheap. But is it even 80s enough? Or does it look too 50s? |
| It doesn’t look 80s to me. Sorry! |
| Me either |
| Haha, before I even clicked on the link, I thought, “please be Peaches & Cream!” Anyone who was a girl in the 80s will recognize it immediately. |
| Not enough ruffles. |
| More 50s than anything. I wouldn’t guess 80s at all. Sorry! I’m sure you’ll find something else fun. |
| It's a little Sex and the City to my eye. |
| Yeah, I think you all are right. So funny that pp knew it was peaches and cream! I can’t belive I got that nostalgic over it but I was ready to buy that thing! |
| I think the colors are 80’s enough. Find some lace gloves (ala Madonna “Like a Virgin”) and I think you’re in business. Work the accessories! |
| In ‘86 ever girl in my 8th grade dance wore that dress, but it was strapless and cotton. This was in Mass. so yes, a toned down version of that with a jordash bag and kitten heels would be a slam dunk for a middle scho semi in ‘86. |
| Just go to YouTube, search on footloose dance scene and you’ll see lots of dresses that look pretty similar. You would totally fit in |
Not quite. Looks more like 50s.

Thant's a 50's dress. But you can make it an 80s look with lace gloves, curl your hair and puff it up and wear a scrunchy. Oh also wear a lot of pearl necklaces many strands all lengths. Shorten the skirt and wear lace leggings under the skirt. BIG earrings and lots of bracelets.
Have fun. |
Agreed. Class of 1988... |
| Nope. |
