Navarro and MCPS want to put in place diversity bussing to break up the high performing W schools. Great idea -just what MoCo's failing economy needs -more death spirals for the schools by getting ride of the few remaining good ones.

I don't get it either. MoCo's twitter feed has had Tweets like this all week:

""County Executive Elrich, Council President Navarro and other leaders are at the Silver Spring Civic Building urging residents to help strengthen Montgomery County by creating a new racial equity and social justice policy."

Why do they need to "urge residents" to do something? Why can't the government just set up an advisory group if it's so important?

So Elrich is turning out to be the Josh Starr (former superintendent that was an epic failure) version of a county executive. Its all about twitter and PR while no one is steering the boat. Elrich wants to make a big splash, do nothing, and then pump up something microscopic as a big achievement with his sycophants in Silver Spring and TP lapping it up. Just like his big early education initiative which was a piddly few hundred more childcare vouchers into an already established system that has nothing to do with early education.

How do they say schools are not diverse enough ? I went to magruder and it was probably 70% white if not higher when I attended. Now the school is plurality Hispanic

After reading her public essays in the last few years I’ve come to the conclusion that Navarro is barely literate herself - good thing she’s running our county basically!

Note that it all takes place in ‘Silver Spring’ facilities- that’s (& Wheaton) where 90% of the county’s funds have gone these last 10 years while other cities rot because we are ‘too privileged’. We are only eligible for tax increases. But that’s not enough for them! They have been re-elected so it will continue indefinitely.
Way to run a great county straight into the ground.

They are term limited now

The whole point is that government has historically contributed to racial inequities. It now has a place in correcting that. Race should not be a predictor of outcome.

Government will do the work. But they are asking for community input. Shocking, I know.
