Bordeaux Question

There seems to be a Bordeaux parent here. How many new ‘06s do you think they’re looking for for Fall?
Anonymous
I see a picture on the Bordeaux web site with 18 kids in the picture for '06. I see a posting on Twitter seeking female coaches. What is the future of this team? Are they planning to start B teams at the upper ages?

Oh Bordeaux booster, what do you know?

I know several families walking away from it because of the no play in high school. He let them play this fall and they won't be allowed next year.

If you are restricting your kids ability to play in high school and they are not a high caliber team, why would you have them miss out on something they want to take part in?

Outside of 1 player most are being fed an unrealistic dream.

He has listed an 03 and 04 team but there is only 1 team at that age group.

Most of the players on the team do not attend schools with strong soccer programs so he is probably right in requesting that his players play club only.

There is an 03, 04, 05 and 06 team. There are younger players but the focus is on the four years referenced.

Yeah there were some Bordeaux players at Northwest HS that had a decent State run junior year then were not allowed to play senior year. They had a good chance to go deeper into States, if not win it. They are at D1 now, but I would rather of played HS.

They do attend some high caliber high schools.

Who is this ignorant big mouth who seems to think there is only one college bound athlete on the "the" 03/04 team but is not aware that there are actually two separate 03 and 04 teams? My daughter plays there and I guarantee you more than one player will have options to play college.

There are way too many morons on board.

FCGB is a strong club worthy of consideration.

Me and the schools they are playing at are all schools that high school players are also playing at. So why not play high school as well? Not like they are going to top tier programs which happen to be filled with players who also played in high school.

You seem to be replying to me and I cannot really make full sense of what you wrote. I cannot disagree with you about HS. I don't agree with the Development Academy prohibition and it makes even less sense for the level of play the Bordeaux 03 and 04 teams are at. You are right about that. However, Coach Ned realized this was an issue and announced he will allow HS play for these teams next year. So the people you thought were leaving are probably not anymore. You are passing on false information. Please stop.

See above. Don't listen to this bitter sour graper who obviously left the team for a reason (and am glad he did as I don't want that around me on the sidelines). Coach Ned is allowing both of the two separate 03 and 04 teams to play HS next year. While you persist on insisting there is only one team, for those truly interested in the program, here are links to the two separate rosters for the 03 and 04 teams:

First of all notice this: 13 girls on 04 team and 15 girls on 03 team. How many on 1st and 2nd team rosters at Bethesda in these age groups? It's in the twenties. How many on the top Rush teams: again in the twenties. Roster spots are rationed out on game to game basis in those clubs....meanwhile in Bordeaux girls have options to play up! Now I may be ruining a good thing by advertising this, but we are committed to the club and we want it to grow.

I cannot say enough good things about the coaches and the seriousness of the training at this club. These coaches care. They have not yet been sufficiently corrupted by the American youth soccer system and have not learned how to be money grubbing megalomaniacs that seems to be the norm at this level in Montgomery County.

In order to retain anonymity (especially after my preceding comment!), I don't want to talk about where my daughter played before nor about where many of the new players came from, but suffice to say they came from high level MD teams and all speak very highly of the quality as compared to where they came from. As for the parents of girls who have been with Ned for years, they say the same and their commitment speaks for itself. I don't know anyone grousing about leaving next year. The grass is always greener so perhaps you are right, we may lose a couple. That's normal.
There were legitimate concerns about the HS prohibition but that is resolved. For those interested here are the tryout dates:

The Bethesda 03 ECNL roster is 18 and the B team is 17. Some of the B team players are listed on the ECNL website as rostered there as they sometimes play there as needed. Bethesda does not roster more than 18.

FCBG parent here. We are thrilled with the Club. Finally a club that is dedicated to building strong, talented, technical female players. Coach James is terrific with the younger girls - instilling discipline, skill and teamwork. He has clear expectations and has invested in each of the girls he trains. The coaches - across all age groups - share these priorities. Night and day from our last club.
