| Saw this pop up in yesterday's thread. Can anyone fill me in on if this is worth doing or is it a waste of time and money? I've been asked a couple times but never put much thought into it. Thanks! |
What's the question??? |
| IMO, not worth it. |
| If the kids have fun when they're young, it is worth it. No one cares about any tournament wins or a national championship. Fun v $ is the only factor. |
Is 3v3 "worth doing or is it a waste of time and money"? |
It is cheap and fun. A lot of top notch area players do the tourneys in the summer. So do a lot of weaker teams. The small number of teams and wide gaps in talent make for very uneven competition (at least in local tourneys). We have seen the same kids the past few summers and then see them again in area club tourneys and the kids definitely get to know each other. But I would not oversell it and would make sure your kids are in the proper brackets and practice together beforehand. There is definitely a distinct approach most good teams take, so I would suggest watching some Disney tourney finals to see how teams position their players offensively and defensively. |
| 3 on 3 is a lot of fun if you are playing with kids you have as friends. It's pointless as a challenging event as it is too easy to game (i.e. a quasi-goal keeper feeding the quick counters) but it's a lot of fun for your kid if he is playing with their friends and enjoying themselves. |
| Some good info here. Seems there is a wide mix of competition. Just heard it was a lot of travel if we want to join. Looks fun from the videos I just looked at. Seems there is a local young girls team that is quite good. |
Those are FCV girls... |

| Based on the videos I could see how 3v3 would be fun at the younger ages. |
| It is a lot of fun!! I am glad we did it, and I would do it again. |
| Waste of time and money. This thread is sock puppet city. |
Yes, doing some cheap local 3v3’s is terrible and not fun at all. |
