Child got left out of class picture

My child was reviving special ed services at her public school and her teacher forgot this and the class took their school picture without her. This upset my child. It was obviously an accident and the teacher felt bad and apologized but would you try to follow up with the school to see if another picture could be scheduled? I feel bad three my child missed her class picture due to her special ed services; she is frustrated when she is pulled from class for those and misses other things as it is. This was speech.

It's worth asking because it's not as if she was absent, but they messed up and forgot her.

Ugh no, I’m sorry she missed it, but I wouldn’t ask. This was a mistake, but it’s not worth the hassle of a retake, which will take up class time for everyone else. Your child is dissapointed, but you can’t fix everything for them. The teacher apologized, I think you should move on.

Aww poor kid! I would at least ask for a retake. Don't be surprised if the answer is No, but it is within your right to ask.

Wow, I can't believe they didn't just fix this the day of! Child is out, class takes picture, teacher realized child missed picture, photographer (who is usually at the school all day) retakes the picture.

Agree. Sometimes life sucks. Deal with it and move on. They're not going to bring a photographer back and instruct an entire class of children to dress for picture day AGAIN, all for your kid. Shit happens.

I'm sorry this happened. I don't know why the teacher didn't go back and have it retaken right after your daughter returned from speech and she realized what had happened.

But now that it has, asking the photographer to bring all their equipment back to the school to retake one picture is not a reasonable request. It's also probably $$$--the schools get a bulk deal for one day of processing classes through like a machine but a special session for just one class is something else. Who is going to pay for this?

Most schools offer retakes for individual students and have the days set up in advance. It is not going to cost the school extra. The $$$ comes from the picture packages that are purchased.

+1. Inclusion is important. Retake days are always schedule because kids are sick or don’t like their pics. No big deal to retake the class pic.

They offer INDIVIDUAL retakes for a class picture? This makes no sense.

Happened to us as well. School agreed to make my sons ID. Also, they gave me the information to schedule a school picture photo session which would have been at a photo studio. No class picture.
