Apartment is taking forever to approve us.

We're staying in a hotel right now. We have been in the area for 12 days now. Last Friday we applied for an apartment. Our move in date is supposed to be Saturday but they have not approved us. We live in a low col area ( Atlanta) and our income is 120k. Once I start working around we will be over 200k. We have excellent credit. I am so frustrated because I don't have accommodations for this weekend. Should I book a hotel and tell the apartment our move in date needs to be set once we're actually approved. I hate dealing with leasing agents. I think they go to certificated witch school.

I live in Atlanta also. I applied for an apartment last Friday at the close of business and got approved today. Not sure what your situation is, but I would tell them to expedite the process as you don't have any living arrangements.

Op here. I have. We were told this morning they would get back to us by the afternoon! We're not in central Atlanta. My husband's job is not close to a lot of hotels unfortunately and traffic is so bad here. Staying in a hotel is getting expensive and old. I am sick of eating out.

Find a new apartment. Do you really want to be in this one that is so poorly run?

There are only so many available at this time unfortunately. We also will lose our $500 application fee. The majority of people live in single familes homes here. We're trying to be close to his work and traffic is a nightmare here.

Can you call and ask for an update?

Aside from asking your complex to speed it up, I would suggest applying for more than one apartment at a time. Unless you are contractually obligated to accept (extremely rare), you can always say no. Plus--$500 application fee? They're supposed to be more like $50.

You say you have good credit and you're comfortable financially, you should be applying for more than one apartment at once.

Op here. Application fees are not $50 here. I don't want to throw away money. It's not like I am applying for grad school. Applying to more than would be wasteful and there are only a few close to dh work.

Try something like this -

Op here. The 2 bedrooms are $3000 and no where close to where we want to live. That's double the rent compared to apartment we applied to. $3000 for rent in Atlanta seems silly. This isn't the bay area.

You have a bad attitude.

$500 application fee is bananas.

You will pay more in stress and hotel fees vs. application fees. If they cannot get back to you in 2-3 days they do not have the apartment like promised, they do not want you or they are disorganized and you probably do not want to live there.
