I don’t have a kid in ENCL…but I do know math. If over half the girls in college soccer come from ENCL then yes - there will be more of them that will enter the transfer portal and quit. You don’t really have a point here. |
| Are all the ecnl players in California already placed on their 25/26 ecnl teams? |
No idk what ECNL clubs have tryouts in winter? But Northern California clubs have “tryouts” in late March. Official club tryouts are usually in May. |
The “tryout” window for ecnl club is always open unless it’s a kid who currently plays ECNL they have to wait until late spring. |
Yep, it’s how they poach and run against the the spirit of the anti-recruiting rules many youth soccer leagues have. |
| Why does ECNL California hold tryouts in December? Is that why ECNL couldn’t make the age change happen for 2025? |
Observer with a younger fall birthday kid. From listening to everything I don't think an organization can make a change for lets say U13 and above without the other organizations also being ready to make the same changes. The level of organization at the clubs we have experienced there is no way they could have 1 team at each age group on one set of rules and the others on a different one. Then what ever year is the cutoff age wise would make the U12 team a mess too. |
They don't. SoCal league holds tryouts for U8 and under in December. February for U9-U14 (?). ECNL clubs use SoCal for their pre-ECNL age groups so they have just gone through tryouts for their youngest players. |
| So California isn’t the reason ECNL can’t make school year happen in 2025 like many claimed. |
The change is not getting made because ECNL has no authorization to make the change in 2025. For those that argue that they should just do it --- they could. And give up a lot of capital that they want for other things. This issue is not at all important to ECNL. It is a want and not a need. In terms of the prep for the change -- it is cutting it close to do this by 2026 but it is doable. 2025 was never int he cards. Two full years of prep went into the last switch. |
| Happy 2025…the year of the ECNL team that has an expiration date…of summer 2026! |
Well said! If ECNL wanted this change so bad they would/could have done this a long time ago. Same with addressing trapped player issues. They will not risk hurting their bottom line to do anything outside the norm. Once the vast majority of clubs and leagues get on board they can transition with everyone. Until that happens no one is changing anything. |
| Is there a podcast this week? |
authorization from who? US SOCCER? lol.... what a joke. that's like saying the NCAA. USSoccer is a disgrace. ECNL should go do what they want for the better of their league and the kids |
