| Does my OOB Pre-K 3 kid have any chance at getting off the waitlist at Powell, Bancroft (English dominant), Barnard, or West? |
| Not at Bancroft. Don't know about the rest. |
| Not a good one anymore. |
Are they currently on the wait list at these schools? I would call each school and ask. |
OP here. No, just trying to figure out if it's worth listing them in the lottery. Thanks! |
Which do you consider the good ones? |
I meant not a good chance at any of them. |
|
West is at a different location next year during renovations, so that might help you a little.
If you have fewer than 12 schools on your list already there's no harm in adding these. But your odds are slim. |

Powell English PS 23 seats, 138 waitlist, 8 later offers Bancroft English PS 57 seats, 64 waitlist, 1 later offers Barnard PS 23 seats, 138 waitlist, 8 later offers West PS 28 seats, 64 waitlist, 13 later offers I think out of boundary breakouts are out there too. But it looks like Barnard and West are in the realm of unlikely but Powell and Bancroft are in the realm of "dream on." |
Sorry I switch Bancroft and Barnard in the above. Again, the tableau table has the data. |
Thank you!! This is just the info I was looking for! |
|
also consider the data at http://enrolldcps.dc.gov/node/61 though:
Bancroft matched 0 OOB and waitlisted 135 Barnard matched 0 OOB and waitlisted 62 Powell matched 0 OOB and waitlisted 124 West matched 0 OOB and waitlisted 42 So West looks like your best odds, especially with the renovation next year. But even there, they waitlisted 13 IB kids and 9 with sibling preference, and more families with preference could have joined the waitlist after the lottery. The odds they get through all those 22+ people and you are high enough in the no-preference waitlist to get an offer is quite small. |
| Just go to your IB school for PK3/4. |
| West will also be adding a 3rd PK3 class next year, so that may help. Good luck! |
| I know many families happy at Truesdell. I’d consider it. |
