Anyone with south Asian in laws who moved in with you?

I don’t think it will happen but who knows. My husband is applying for citizenship for his family (mother, brother and sister). This means we could have 5 people living with us. My bil has a wife and 1 son. I really like my in laws. They’re very sweet simple people but living together could be very different.

Your husband can only apply for citizenship for a dependent parent. He cannot sponsor siblings. HA HA! But good try for trolling, Trumpster!!!
Melania sponsored her parents, her parents sponsored her sister who is their offspring. They were living in an apartment paid for by Trump in NY way before they were got citizenship. Melania made the ultimate sacrifice for her parents as many Eastern European women do for their families.

Are you a different race than your South Asian husband? You should divorce him. Living with 5 extra people will be a marriage breaker.

Op here. We do not support trump. My husband said only his immediate family can be sponsored and it would take 10 years most likely. Does it vary depending on which country you’re from?

Yes I am white. I don’t think it would be 5 people but who knows. If it’s true that only his mother can be sponsored then I have nothing to worry about. I don’t think she will move without the other siblings. I know his brothers wife and child would have to wait until his brother could sponsor them.

This is not true. Parents have a higher preference in getting the green card but siblings are absolutely allowed to be sponsored. They will be put on a longer waiting list.

A U.S. citizen may sponsor his or her close family members for a Green Card. This includes their:

Husband or wife
Unmarried children under 21 years of age
Unmarried son or daughter over 21
Married son or daughter of any age
Brother or sister, if the sponsor is at least 21 years old, or
Parent, if the sponsor is at least 21 years old.

You cannot sponsor and expect everyone will come at the same time.

Op never said that. Someone earlier said they cannot sponsor siblings. That’s not true.

The family is being sponsored for a green card, not citizenship. The husbands parents will get it very quickly, the siblings will have to wait 10-14 years depending on the country.
So OP's MIL could be joining their family soon. Once she gets a green card she will have to establish residency in the US and spend a certain amount of time here to maintain her immigrant status. Unless OP's husband is planning to rent a separate place for his mom she's going to be moving in.

Op here. I think she would have to come twice a year but I am not 100 percent sure. I don’t think his mother would live in the US without the rest of the family. They have a nice house in my husbands country ( Napal). Health care is also significantly less expensive in Nepal. I did not know it takes so long for the siblings to get a green card. His sister is 30. I am not sure if she’s planning to get married. If she does marry soon I don’t think she could come to the US.

The mother wouldn’t allowed to be out of the US for more than 6 months at a time once she has a GC.

Just rent a house for them when they come.

You need your meds adjusted.

It took 14-15 years for my parents’ siblings green cards to come.
