How do I become Daniel Tiger’s mom?

Anonymous
I love her..and dad too.

They always have the right answer. And a song. And patience.

How do I find that zen? I’m pretty good with “this too shall pass”, and understanding that DD is still so little... but man, I never have the right answer.

Can you sum up Daniel’s mom for me?

Please don’t add any advice from Caillou... his parents went awry somewhere. They seem reasonable, but something must have happened.

And I’m half (okay, mostly) serious. Daniels parents seem reasonable, and firm, and calm. I know they’re “written”, but this must exist, right?

When you get so mad that you want to roar, take a deep breath and count to four.

Start there, maybe?

Ha.... thank you, PP... been a *very* rough day, and I actually needed this!

I think the parents have a really good relationship too.

I suspect that in addition to the good parenting, she has her own interests and a hot relationship with Mr Tiger

It’s the curtains, isn’t it?

She's a carpenter. But she took time off to stay home with her tigers while they're young.

And she doesn’t have expectations of how he should behave or a clock dictating they have to be somewhere.

I find when I have expectations (bedtime shouldn’t take an hour), then I lose patience.

I heard Tiger Dad is closeted and suffered from anxiety

I quote the show all the time. Just tonight during bedtime, I sang the Countdown to Calm down song to one kid, then a while later told the other “it’s almost time to stop so choose one more thing to do.”

Just ask yourself WWMTD and you’ll find your zen, OP. It can be done!

He’s a Closeted what?

I can’t see Daniel Tigers parents raising a closeted, racist, homophobic who finds it funny to poke fun at either, so I’m thinking this detail is moot.

Or, someone that pokes fun at mental illness. But hey, YMMV.

Dress like my mother-in-law? Mom tiger and my MIL rock the Capri /floral top look daily - available at Kohls.

I wish I was so calm, but also that my kids meltdown only consisted of “grr...I’m mad” - not a 45 shrieking horror fest over purple NOT PINK socks.

But here it is - she looks so cute in her capris, and even when she was pregnant with Margaret, she rocked it.

Having a beach in the backyard, but also a winter wonderland in a downtown that's walking distance OR you can take the friendly trolley basically whenever you want...probably helps.
