Question for those of you who consider yourselves "aggressive drivers"

Anonymous
I know there are some self-proclaimed "aggressive drivers" on here. Serious question: What is it that makes you drive like that? What goes through your mind to purposefully drive like an a$$hole? I'm really curious!

We're curious why you are so slow and stupid.

Leave on time and you will not have to drive the way you do. I’m sorry you’re so incompetent at handling something so simple.

I ask myself the same question. And I do leave on time. That doesn’t mean I enjoy being stuck behind your slow ass or in between two other ignorant drivers hugging my blind spots. GTF out of the way!

They are narcissistic.

They think it makes them cool.

Partly impatience, partly fun.

Not OP, but on this note - my husband, father and FIL all do this , and I want to know what the hello the purpose is -

If someone cuts them off, they will lay on the horn, speed, weave in and out, etc all to get that person's attention. Or if they're being tailgated. Theyll slam on the on the brakes, intentionally antagonize, drive eratically, etc. WHY!?!?

Growing up in the car with an aggressive driver.

My dad was hilarious. A good driver, but no tolerance for idiot drivers.

I find myself doing what he used to do ---and my mouth is quite foul when I drive.

I have really reigned it in now that there are so many nuts out there...and I don't want my boys driving crazy when they grow up.

Another thing--I work from home now so I don't have an 'angry' commute. I let people in front of me and I'm a much more pleasant driver without that stress.

Same. Why can’t you use blinkers, drive the speed limit, keep up with traffic and be aware of cars around you?!

Dh thinks he’s “training” the drivers around him since cops never ticket. If you don’t use a turn signal, he’ll cut you off and honk. If you drive under the speed limit in the left lane and don’t get over, he’ll tailgate and honk.

Funny I feel it's the exact opposite. The clueless drivers who think as long as they're following the "rules" whatever is happening around them doesn't matter, are the actual narcissists.

I would love to drive the speed limit but you tailgate me if I'm going anything under 15 mph over and flash your lights if I'm doing just 10 over. And this is on a 2 lane road, so it's not like I can just move over.

They think they are better drivers than everyone else. I have a friend who drives this way: he truly believes that he is a better driver than everyone else out there and he wishes they would get out of his way. He believes that speed limits are for bad drivers (ie, all those other drivers) and that they don’t apply to him because he is such a good driver who knows how to handle speed.

This is right from the horse’s mouth. Or maybe a different part of the horse’s body...

+1

They DGAF about anyone around them. In fact, I think some find pleasure in being the "left lane monitor" and holding up traffic for miles.
