It varies a lot by location and depending on the staff involved. I've never heard a rave review, but we had on OK experience at Rosewood Rec Center last year. I heard other parents say it was OK but that "you get what you pay for."

My daughter loved it last summer. She can be a very difficult, but she really gelled with the staff and had a great time. I don't think they did anything special, but she was always really happy to attend. That counts for a lot in my book.

Anyone have experience at the Takoma location? We have a rising K child who will be only 4 until the very end of summer, so options are limited.

We did it for three summers several years ago, and it's still the same staff, which is a big plus in my book. My son enjoyed it. It's a lot of games, crafts, playground time, field trips once a week or so, plus resting and eating.

Thanks, this is helpful. Do they do any swimming?

It varies a ton by location. We had a fairly good experience at Raymond (Petworth) and a bad experience at Chevy Chase Playground. I agree that you get what you pay for, but it is a good option to mix in with other more expensive camps.

could you elaborate why the experience was bad at chevy chase playground? I was wondering where they actually put the kids since the building looked so small? this is the one on Livingston correct?

We were waitlisted at all of our options (unfortunately I signed up a few minutes past 12). Does anyone know what the waitlist movement is like?

This is the first year they’ve done waitlists.

At the Hillcrest location swimming was once a week and one field trip per session.

Our experience at the Trinidad location was great. In addition to field trips, they did things like have a beekeeper bring a demonstration hive to the camp. At Sherwood Rec Center, not so great.

Well I don't. You pay taxes, too, some of which should go towards those.

You're right. I should have said you get more than you pay for. Little Explorers certainly gives you more than $60 worth of value per week. No question.
