Heights?

Any Heights families out there?

What we’ve heard so far: amazing school, everyone loves it, those who leave do so because their child was bullied or there were too many fights that went ignored by faculty, the no nurse business (kids with broken bones etc or major illnesses ignored), and no lower school teachers have degrees in teaching save one. So you have to be ok with the bad and love the god. Is that about right?

When I called they only wanted Catholics and its a highly religious school. So, this poster's kids will have to learn to find God very quickly or be an outcast.

The Heights is only 60% Catholic.

They are also 40% Virginians which is way more bothersome.

And, how many non-Christians are there?

On the rotation of complaints, yes, they desperately need a school nurse, not just the ladies at the front desk.

If the front desk ladies can call me and 911, then I’m good.

That's just because most of the Marylanders who enroll kill themselves in automobile accidents.

You do realize that 911 can take up to half an hour and that half an hour is the crucial time when an emergency happens. If anything, the lack of nurse shows a lack focus on wellbeing. That is what should concern parents.

Most school nurses are pretty useless. 911 depending on where you live/how busy they are does not take 30 minutes, especially in an emergency. Given what they charge/school size they should have one but you are clueless to think it takes that long.

Not sure what you mean. I grew up in Maryland but moved to Virginia for high paying job, better home values, better commute, lower taxes.

Thanks for showing people what I mean.

I love the school podcast’s discussions of contemporary topics in raising virtuous boys—very informative and engaging. But we don’t yet have any students there. Would love to hear substantive comments (favorable or critical) from current families. Thank you!

Bethesda Fire Station 26 and it’s rescue squad is less than 2 miles away.
