Nicest restaurants in DC?

Anonymous
We moved here 5 years ago and rarely go out to dinner without kids. We have 3 young children. Have some special occasions coming up and would like to check out some nice restaurants in DC.

Places we have been - Le Diplomat, minibar, pineapples and pearls, Fiola, fiola mare, Restaurant eve, clarity, 2941, bourbon steak, la vie. I made a reservation for Komi for valentine’s day. Inn at Little Washington has been on my list for years but it is just too far for a date night.

Have our anniversary and my birthday coming up. Would also like to go to a nice brunch for mother’s day. Gosh, I can’t remember the last time we went out for brunch. Probably before my third child was born almost 2 years ago.

We went to Poca Madre for my birthday in December and loved it. The King burrito was heavenly. Definitely check it out.

Take a look at Eater DC. They have a list of 38 "Essential" Restaurants, and the "Heatmap" which shows all the most popular restaurants (which tend to be nicer restaurants) right now. I always use both lists when trying to decide where to go.

The Wharf, in particular, is a really good bet these days.

Food is amazing but I wouldn't consider it a special occasion restaurant. Vibe is casual.

I really love Del Mar at the Wharf.
Trying San Lorenzo this week, which I've heard great things about.
