Trying San Lorenzo this week, which I've heard great things about.

+1 Del Mar

Op here. I also started the 40th birthday party thread. Del Mar sounds like it may be a great birthday dinner venue.

I love Indian.

We usually go to 2-4 dinners without kids - VDay, anniversary, my birthday and the rare double date. We also probably do 1-2 work dinners per year.

Masseria. Food and vibe are excellent.

Del Mar is attractive and large (so good for parties). When we went food and drinks were meh (cocktails too sweet, food had the right ingredients but just didn't hit impressive ... like okay but not great grilled octopus; what tasted like canned smoked oysters; chewy vs. crisp and delicious pork belly ...)

Kinship
Maydan
Del Mar
Rasika
Dabney
Bad Saint
Little Serow
Tail Up Goat

For brunch, I like Ted's Bulletin for casual brunch with kids. If you want upscale, there's Blue Duck Tavern, Sequoia (good views), Marcel's, Acadiana (live jazz).

This is a good list of places the OP hasn't been to. More casual, but I would add Sfoglina in Van Ness.

After all of his good works for hurricane victims and federal employees, I've encouraged all of my friends to try out any of Jose Andre's restaurants in town ... Jaleo, Oyemel, America Eats, etc.

Add Reverie. Strike Sequoia. Views are better than the food.

Since OP mentioned Clarity, I am assuming a NOVA base. Nostos is great too.
