So, we already know that Mayor Fenty got the City to spend some of its limited funds to install heaters in his favorite swimming pool. He side-stepped the DC Council to pass lucrative Department of Recreation contracts to his frat brothers. Now, we find him using police escorts to assist his cycling team. This video shows them running red lights, creating traffic jams, and cycling on roads on which bicycles are prohibited.
Fenty seems to have confused the city with his private gym. |
Wait -- it's not? |
Well Fenty is a God isn't he. The least the citizens of the District can do is give him his personal gym and personal contractors. |
Is this mayor too afraid to bike the streets of DC on his own? Gosh, there was not a back alley or drug market tough enough to scare away Marion Barry.
Fleet Effete! |
I really liked the fact that he was an athlete in the beginnning; I thought that discipline would carry over into how he ran the city. But basically he seems to use city services for him and his friend's own personal athletic endeavors (to say nothing of all the friends getting city contracts), and I'm sick of him. I hope someone isn't scared of his war chest and runs against him. If they have a 3 digit IQ, I'd probably vote for them. |
Must be nice to be on his team and train like you're a professional cyclist even though I suspect most of them are probably just white collared professionals playing real athlete. How'd this guy ever get to be mayor in the first place anyway? |
Um, his predecessors were Anthony Williams and Marion Barry. |
DC's got a lot of intelligent civic-minded folks. None of them were running against Fenty at the time? |
Nope, just Carol Schwartz. |
Disgraceful. He broke the law but more importantly, he's wasting our tax dollars. |
Yeah, and he went to law school too. |
Oh, also Linda Cropp in the Democratic primary. I agonized for a long time and decided to vote for Fenty. It was only after he won the Democratic primary (and therefore the mayor's office) that he announced he was taking over the school system. I was pissed that he waited until after the primary. I don't know if Linda Cropp would have been better but knowing what I know now I might have voted for her. Like Schwartz but she had no chance of winning. |
Now you take that back: Anthony Williams is looking plenty appealing these days. He was fine back in the day, too, without his nerdy assurance we'd still be even more of a fiefdom for Congressional control boards and such.
I really cannot stand Fenty anymore, and I willingly voted for him. |
HaHaHa. I tried to tell anyone who would listen that he was a terrible choice. Any lawyer who can screw up a probate case can not be trusted or just bloody stupid. My goodness, your client is a dead person. No, everybody wanted the young and energetic Fenty because he could out campaign his opponent. Well, now I believe you good people are stuck with him or another four years. I hope I am wrong, but His war chest is deep and his list of potential rivals are short. No one listened. |
I didn't know that he was in Jamaica recently to compete in a triatholon. The Post must have missed this. Nice bod though!
