Aw, come on! Leave Adrian alone! Are you guys so young that you forget what it was like to have Marion Barry as mayor here? Embarrassing! And Tony and Sharon might have been better, but they really didn't understand the infrastructure of the city. Adrian does, and he works hard, and he's killing the old boy corrupt network of overweight politicians. I LOVED what he did with the offices when he came into office. Now they can't sit in their offices all day with closed doors, going out to three (3) hour lunches, coming in late and leaving early.
So what if he rides his bike? SO WHAT! |
He might be starting a new boys' network of handouts. And he exercises two hours everyday, in the middle of the day. Good for him but shouldn't he do it on his own time? |
I'm fairly certain that those two hours aren't in lieu of working - it's not like he's clocking in at 9 and out at 5. Willing to bet he's putting in far more than 40 (or even 50 or 60) hours in a given week. But like many top execs, he is also placing a priority on giving himself the mental/physical health he needs. Apparently Obama works out in the morning with his wife and often isn't in the Oval Office until 8:30 or 9. I think Bush was in there at 7:30. Anyone making a claim that Obama is a slacker compared to hard-working Bush? I'm not defending Fenty generally, I live in VA so could care less, but want to point out that balance is important for everyone -- working moms, mayors, presidents, CEOs. |
Yes - Obama works out. He (or Michelle) broke the mirror in the gym with a weight the 1st week in office.
I know as the scheduled installation of a new mirror for my house needed to be changed. |
Nah, he is just in my neighborhood at 1730 hours knocking on doors, campaigning for his re-election. Word is Michelle and Obama works out at 0530 hours |
I would politely disagree and state that Anthony understood the infrastructure very well. He was good for the city and I am very sad he turned in his bow tie. I wish someone could draft him to run for a third term. He would win hands down. Alas, I don't think he would be interested. I don't think Adrian understands the infrastructure at all. Hell he is at war with the city council. He came from the city council and they were very supportive of one of their own. But, typical Adrian, he spat in their face. As for the old boy courrupt network, it seems as though Adrian has his own new by corrupt network. They are simply younger and move far more swiftly than his predecessors. |
I'm happy he's fit and have no problem with him working out. I DO have a problem with him using city funds and personnel for his athletic pursuits. He was using a uniformed motorcycle cop (not a member of his security detail) to clear the way for him and his buddies on their rides. That's improper use of city funds, and betrays a rather imperial attitude that has come to characterize his tenure as mayor. That copy should have been out doing his job dealing with crime in the city, not tending to the mayor and his pals. |
Do all mayors have a security detail? Or just the ones in larger metro areas? |
