True. Poor soccer performances lately. But that’s not what’s driving the train to this club coming apart. It’s coaches lacking confidence in club leadership & the BoD as this GFR parent understands. Lots of talk about an impending shakeup.

Do other clubs have parent coaches for the travel teams like GFR does (v just for rec)?

They mixed up some Herndon scores in there! Not much difference between GFR and HYS these days

Parent volunteers? or was this parent a coach before the kid was of age to play for him/her?

Yeah, 2011B are undefeated and second in their division.

Seems like there are a couple of age groups that were hit hard by all the drama last year, not the first time there has been shake ups, think it’s a little dramatic to lol to s it’s the end of a club that’s been around a long time. They’ll recover.

Is it a whole different team from last year? We played them and I didn't recognize anyone. Usually its mostly the same kids on the RL teams pretty much.

About 50% turnover from last year, many of the same players.

I applaud this GFR extinction process. Ultimately, more money in my pocket.

I am not aware of any GFR travel team with a parent coach.

Re: the 2011 Herndon team, I heard most of them went to VRSC which really depleted that team.

Because there aren't any at least in the RL league. There might be an independent team that plays NCSL though that a parent coaches but that would be an anomaly and it would be what the team wanted - to save money or maybe the parent is also a licensed, qualified coach.

There really is no board drama now. It was one guy who resigned (after 6 months) who created a lot of drama with the help of the oh so bitter RP. He had 2 other board members roped in with him but one has since also resigned and the other seems to be on board now with the other board members. If you speak to the ED or TD there are lots of positives happening for the club despite the fact that they have been sued (unsuccessfully) several times. They will get through the bumps in the road but they will likely never play above the regional level and that is fine. There are plenty of neighboring GA/MLS NEXT/ECNL clubs for those who want them.
