Do you return Tupperware empty?

Anonymous
I had a semi major injury, and a very sweet neighbor brought me two meals. She gave me a pot of homemade chicken noodle soul and chili in her tupperware.
If she were a close friend of mine, I would just buy her lunch a later time, or I would know what to give her as a gift of appreciation.

This person is a friendly neighbor and I’m not sure if I should just return her pot and Tupperware empty or fill it with food, now that I’m well again. TIA.

Empty and clean with a thank you note.

I would just wash it really well and return it to her with a note of genuine appreciation.

If you are a South Asian Woman above aged 60, you wouldn't dream of it All others, cleaned and dried with a big thank you.

Since you ask, I would send baked goods.

I usually return tupperware filled with berries if I know for sure that person likes them, or filled with cookies if there are kids.
Male neighbor got an empty tapperware and 6 pack of his favorite bear when he brought me a small bucket filled with vegs from his garden.

Usually yes, but because you were sick then no. (But I am of South Asian origin so you may want to ignore me)

Ha! my South Asian mom would never return an empty Tupperware! As a result, I have a hard time doing it. I feel really guilty.

This is why I use disposable "tupperware" -- I don't want anyone to have to worry about giving it back.

Same with trays -- I buy nice clear plastic ones at Dollar Tree. No need for the host to keep track, wash and return.

I’ll usually bake homemade chocolate chip cookies and send them back with cookies in them. I just feel like it’s a nice gesture.

Yes. Clean and empty.

I kept attempting to fill up a Tupperware and send it back.

But we had a couple of sicknesses come through, and I felt like it was hanging out in my house too long. I put a couple of candy bars on top and gave it back to my neighbor. She’s single/alone and loves chocolate - has a stash in her fridge at all times.

Omg. This I why I am hesitant to do nice things for people. No one is capable of accepting them without doing something back. Then I feel like I have burdened the other person. It never ends. And starts to feel like a competition. Just return it and say thank you.
