SPinoff: What do you wear for comfy shoes?

Anonymous
Getting ideas since the clogs were so maligned. I am not the OP from that thread.

NP here. I'm going to expand on your question:

* comfy shoes for hanging out, quick errands

* comfy shoes for lots of walking (a few hours on your feet, at the mall, in Georgetown, at museums...want to look nice yet be able to go for hours)

* comfy shoes for playground (and not sitting on the bench, but playing with your kid(s))

* comfy shoes for office when you might have to walk a mile to lunch or a meeting

* comfy shoes for commuting

ECHO PUMPS. LOVE THEM.

* comfy shoes for commuting

I'd love an answer to the rest.

for non-sneakers, i only wear three brands: ecco, keen and privo. i find all of the shoes made by these brands to be universally comfortable, whether the show is casual or more appropriate for office or evening.

I wear Dansko clogs in the winter, Dansko sandals in the summer, and Crocs brand flip-flops (not the clogs).

So there.

i am a huge fan of "fashion" sneakers. that is, sneakers that are not meant for exercising. i'm partial to cute colorful pumas. but perhaps i can pull this off more easily than some others because i'm in my 20s.

Love my Merrell slip ons. I don't know what they're called but they are suede with a zipper on top and they are very smooth and soft to walk in. They are like a better looking pair of eccos in terms of comfort.

Unfashionable NP here - can someone post a link to some fashion sneakers? And are they as comfortable as regular sneakers?

As for what I wear, so far I've found that Eccos are almost always comfortable, and I just got a nice pair of black slip-ons for fall/winter to wear to work (casual work environment though). They are great for commuting and walking around.

I like the way these look, and own some Merrell and Tsubo sneakers, but the soles are so thin I can feel everything through them; they don't adequately cuhsion or support my feet. Same with flats.

Fashion sneakers are called trainers. The trend comes from Europe where they do not wear those white clunky gym shoes (which will point you out as an American from a mile away).

I'm in my 50's and wear them with jeans. Lots of companies carry them including Puma (my fave - no weight at all) and Cole Haan. Have them in burgundy, gold, green/white, and orange.

As comfy as regular sneakes without the heft. Makes your feet and legs look slim, too because they are tailored and give a nice sleek line.

Heh heh. I'm the OP from the Dansko thread and I wear the pumas too.

I'm 43.

Actually, in America, they're called sneakers. All atheltic shoes are called trainers in the UK.

In DC people who wear "white clunky gym shoes" outside the gym are called tourists.

rock on, then, mama! i'm sorry for thinking there was no way a dansko clog lady would wear pumas.

I have a pair of Keen sneakers in a khaki linen-like fabric. I bought them in Europe this summer and I walked miles in them. They're perfect for the playground or other activities with kids.

I wear brown suede Gola sneakers and get compliments all of the time.
