PGS after multiple miscarriages

Anonymous
Hi there! Has anyone found success with PGS after multiple miscarriages? I’ve had 3 and am feeling pretty hopeless. I am worried we’re going to get only abnormals. FWIW, I am 29 years old. Thanks in advance!

You’re extremely young and as long as you can get a good number to blast you should have normals. It may take more than one retrieval but at your age I would feel very confident that it will eventually work. .

I second the PP above - at your age you are very likely to have success. I had one miscarriage and one chemical pregnancy and went straight to IVF because of my age (39). I got one PGS normal on my first and only cycle and my little boy is almost a month old now. Good luck, the odds are in your favor!!

Have you and your partner had karyotype tests done? If not, I highly suggest you do so before any next steps. This test looks to see if either of you has a balanced translocation. I have one but never knew because we also had severe MFI. Multiple miscarriages can be indicator.

Think about trying an endometrial receptivity assay. I know a few people who were miscarrying perfectly normal embryos during IvF and FETs and it was their endometrial recelptvitiy was not in sync with the transfer time. They found success with the ERA test. They both had to do lupron and a funky cycle/timing.

My only in real life IVF friend did IVF for repeat loss. Got several blasts but only one was normal. Is many many weeks pregnant now, well into second tri — first egg retrieval, first transfer.

OP here. Thank you all so much for your positive, encouraging messages and the thoughtful advice. It really means a lot to me. My husband and I both have normal karyotypes; normal RPL panel as well. If we get a lot of normals from our cycle coming up, I think the next step for us is the ERA. We’re hoping PGS will help us better identify whether it’s an issue with the seed or soil. Interestingly, my husband’s most recent semen analysis showed low morphology. He was last checked in 2016, and his morphology was well above average then. We’re now going to add PICSI to the mix. I hope that’s the missing piece.

Dear OP, just wanted to send hope. I had 3 miscarriages in a row and then 2 healthy pregnancies in a row. Sending you lots of good energy.

I had multiple miscarriages starting in my late 20s. SG suggested IVF with PGS for me but that didn't seem to fit since we had no trouble actually getting pregnant. They said if that didn't work I may need a gestational surrogate. Lucky for me there was another answer.

I went to AEB and Dr. Abbasi for another opinion and we found fairly extensive immune issues and clotting factors. Had my first live birth at 32, than again at 34 and 35 with immune treatments.

Thanks so much for your response! Do you mind me asking what immune issues they found and what treatment protocol worked for you? I feel like I’ve done every test under the sun. Not sure what else is left!

OP, do you think that you could be Rh negative?

Did you have a m/c or term when you were younger that maybe you didn't know about?
