Is there any enrichment/accelleration in the proposed curriculum?

I reviewed some of the materials online the other week, and there was talk about small-group differentiation, but when push came to shove in the ELA curriculum it looked like in those curriculums that provided leveled reading books, the selection of titles at the high end were lacking. I couldn't tell about the math, but it seemed like they weren't aiming toward 8th grade Algebra at all.

Does anyone have any idea how this will work? New curriculum being introduced along side current acceleration/enrichment with ELC and Compact math? Or will they scrap the current enrichment/accelleration and set the kids back like they did with 2.0?

No, that's the standard path. Geometry in 8th is accelerated.

One of the problems in MCPS is that they used inflated labeling in curriculum 2.0. Algebra I and II in Eric Lang's version of 2.0 isn't really full or complete Algebra. Its very watered down and lacking so sadly parents who think that their kids have a solid foundation will be screwed if they move to another school system or private. Big gaps - as confirmed by the Hopkins report.

Other proven curriculums that were not created by a former gym teacher have more rigor, depth and coverage of the subject but to stay at the level MCPS wants the labeling will not be Algebra I by eight grade.

So I interpret your post to be saying that the current curriculum is accelerated, but weak? So, a new Algebra curriculum would be more challenging/enriched by comparison?
