| 17yr old doing 100 in a 65. Obviously she is going to pay the ticket, how long would you take away the car? |
| Well I just hired my son an attorney for going 65 in a 35. Your DS will do more than just pay the ticket. When does she go before the judge? |
| 6 months OP. Triple digits triple punishments |
| minimum 6 months, maybe until they move out, buy their own car, and pay their own insurance. |
+1 |
| I'd have a hard time allowing my kid behind the wheel of my car after that. Ever. |
|
That's serious, OP. What does your 17 year old say?
|
I think this is in response to a viral facebook letter that is making the news. |
|
Wow. I don't know if I'd give the car back at all. She could've killed someone or herself. At 17, I lost two friends in two separate accidents that were the result of others' negligence. I'm normally not the soapbox type, but this hits close to home.
|
| Ehhh. Kids will be kids. You think that will stop her? You need to have a frank discussion about safety and then it’ll be fine. |
| Until after her first semester in college. She has proven she can't handle it until she is older and can pay her car insurance herself. |
|
The next car she drives will be one she paid for.
After moving out. |
I think we can all tell who’s teen driver will end up killing someone in the next few years. (your kid. in case that went over your head) |
+1 When she is an adult and can buy it herself. Until then our cars would be completely off limits. |
|
What state? In VA, she will go to jail.
As for punishment, if it were my DD, 1) revoke consent for her driving (no driving until 18). 2) she can not drive family assets. This is not a minor offense. It is hard to go that fast. |
