Do you have DOR and did you have success with Shady Grove?

They want to put me on birth control pills but I'm afraid it will oversuppress me. Would love to hear from other DOR folks and if SG worked for them.

What are your numbers? I'm DOR and SGF and GW both said estrogen priming for me. For your comfort, I'd probably get a second opinion.

I am 35 with AMH of 0.4 and am pregnant from an IUI at Shady Grove.
RE was Dr. Jeanne O'Brien. Not sure how helpful that is for you since I didn't do IVF, but Dr. O'Brien definitely seemed to know what she was doing.

35, 0.3 Amh, afc 5

SG said micro flare Lipton. GW said estrogen prime

I was diagnosed DOR my second time around at SG and we did not do the BC. We did the BC first time around. (Probably DOR the first time around too but the numbers were within the normal range). Is this your first round with them?

SG likes to have as many patients on birth control pills as possible because it helps them manage the schedule so that about the same number of women need an egg retrieval on each day. I would try to push back on the birth control pills, but you may not have any luck. are you in shared risk? If not (and if you are self pay) I would push back hard.

Is SG just not a good place to go if you have DOR? I'm surprised to not see more replies sharing success stories here.

Hmm. I didn’t want to question the doctor and she seemed very confident I could get pregnant. But after two cycles with GW and not once taking BCP I was a bit skeptical skeptical.

Yes first round since I felt. GW was too conservative. But I don’t actually know anyone with DOR who had success with SGF

Did you do estrogen priming at GW? How many eggs were retrieved.

DOR success x2 with sgf. Amh was .48 when I was 34.
My first took two rounds and we did bcp.
My second we started ~12m later. Didn't retest amh. My first cycle was a huge flop (but later found out the bravelle was bad ?). Then we did without the bcp. Took 3 more rounds to get my 2nd kid. But at least one of those rounds was a sperm issue. (We had a complicated case).
Good luck.

I didn’t have success with them, but know that you can do estrogen priming with micro dose Lupron flare. You start on estrogen instead of BCPs and then just start the MDF protocol soon after your period. This is what CCRM had me do.

That said, my best cycle so far has been estrogen priming with antagonist (no Lupron). But that may just have been age at time of cycling. My AMH is normal, but FSH is in mid-teens and rising.

Still banking, so no success anywhere yet.

Yes, this is their motivation. SGF is not good for hard cases.

Do you mind sharing your age and where you’re cycling now?

Left Shady Grove for CCRM Northern Virginia. I'm 40.
